I had a chance to participate in a local Gymkana today. It was a blast. Sort of a cross between an autocross and a drifting event. The course was very tight so it was tough to get the Z to hang with the Miatas and MX5s

Makes me miss my RX-7.

 

That one is powered by an LS1 V8. Apparently changing to an LS engine is a common RX-7 conversion.

Cool. I haven't heard the term Gymkhana in 30 years.

 

hahha if that was a class in nigh school there would be alot of snickering in the room after seeing that diagram

 

I know I hadn't heard the term in forever either.

 

I heard everyone had a blast. We had a few people from the local club there as well.

Yes it was fun. I wish we could have gotten a few more Z's out there though.

I saw Jason on Saturday. He dropped by our swap meet and left us flyers for your show in November.

I saw that earlier today. But they didn't tape any of my runs. I was right behind the black MX-5 with the roll bar in line.

that got posted up on my local SCCA forum, great video. I always thought Block just bought his way into rally racing...didnt know he was actually talented. pretty impressive stuff, especially the 180 around the cone, that one is wild.

looks like a weak autox course.

 

this isn't gymkana either. Gymkana is low speed and resembles a tighter autox course, and yes everybody has seen this vid.

 

Not really much to the track. I'm sure it was fun. Why wasn't anyone drifting at all?

 

It was a parking lot with a series of cones, so not much to it. There was quite a bit of drifting going on.

 

Cool. Just wondering. Didn't see any in the video.
