STU2 = 350Z street tire class at last!
At the 2008 Florida State Autocross Championship this year.
I was the first to sign up in this new class, for A and B stock 2 seaters that are prepped no higher than BSP and run on street tires!
http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/...sevent_id=9528
I encourage anyone that wants to run their Z on street tires, and isn't brepped beyond BSP rules, to pre register.
We need to show interest in this class if we ever want to make it a reality on the national level.
When you get to the drop-down box, STU2 and STU2 L are at the very bottom of the list. (it's not right under STU)
Who else is in?

No love for C Stock? I would be in if I had a Z to borrow
After this weekend my car will be pretty much done for the season, or I would go. It would be nice to have another ST class for more currently excluded cars to play in, at least locally.

Interesting. I do not auto-x much, but when I do I get my *** handed to me in BSP. I only have springs/sways and wider wheels with street tires. Guess I'll keep my eyes peeled for something new next season?
As I understand it, yes. A stock and B stock 2 seaters, prepped up to BSP specs, minus race rubber.
Of course, my car isn't fully prepped for BSP. (no HP mods, and no camber
)
But tires are the biggest factor between my "BSP" car and a "real" BSP car.
Being able to compete on street tires makes the field fair enough for me.

But I'm sure if a lot of people run the class, it will get noticed.

It's pretty common for other regions have stock and *SP street tire classes that use a PAX index.
My car won't be at Sebring, but I wouldn't mind running against Z's, even if only to support the class. The winning CS and CSP Miatas this year at Nats were both faster than the winning AS/BS and BSP cars, respectively. So theoretically the Miata/MX-5 wouldn't be much of an underdog in a ST*2 class with some camber and wider tires
I asked because, for example, Philly region allows CS cars in their local STU2 class:

Choose your words carefully persian....

CSP Miatas are fast as hell. Go check raw times between BSP/CSP at nats. wont see much of a difference.
This wouldve been great news 6 months ago before I bought race tarrrrs

ahh well. race tires make my world go round. life changing experience

Hey Brian...doesnt that car have upper A-arms and rear camber arms already? whatchu all talking about? im confuseled.

I looked at the Florida Championship results. I assume that the winning 350Z, Mike, in STU2 is Z1NONLY and Jason took B Stock by whipping his co-driver again.
He has a habit of doing that.
Who let DiSimo in an XP car? Top PAX in XP is extreme! He almost beat AM in raw time, missed by 0.031.
Good for him!

Good for him!One Z,
One RX8,
One Boxter,
.... and six S2000's!
I have been pushing for a street tire class for the A and B stock cars that have been excluded from STU, for a long time.
I'm glad the class got the participation it did. I hope this trend spreads and the SCCA takes notice.
I, and many of the other drivers in STU2 would not have shown up for this event without this class.
The other guys in the class were great too. I am looking forward to the next time we, and others, compete in this class.
Here is the winning run;

The Rx-8 belonged in STU.
Most sentiment I heard at the National Town Hall in Topeka was for reducing the number of classes. I don't see the SEB adding another class to Nationals for a while.
I also would like an alternative to R-compounds for competition so I'll be interested in how it shakes out.
Congratulations on the win.
