Default Heel to toe pedal

Had a buddy at work make it for me. Pretty simple, just a piece of aluminum welding to the pedal, cut a few times to get it just right. Price=free

Let us know how that works. The wider pedal will make it easier, but the biggest problem I have is that under hard braking the brake pedal sinks below the gas pedal. This makes it hard for me to roll to the gas pedal. If I am not under hard braking, then it is not an issue. But, at the track it seems I am always under hard braking.

I find it comical of these post on how to heal/toe. I've never had a problem in any manual car that I have driven on the street or on the track.

Heck, my wife can even do it and she learned to drive a manual in a M3 Race car with stock pedals!

I tried doing it yesterday and it is easy under light braking, but under hard braking it is rather difficult. Though with practice I'll be able to do it smoothly..

No information? Did you just learn about the internet and forums? The internet is full of information on the topic. Take a HPDE and an instructor will show you how it's done for free.

First day on internet and forums. WOW. Guess what my350z is a forum on the internet with full information on this topic. That's why people are asking.

I actually think it's easier to heel and toe during hard braking.

I agree 100%. Heel and toeing at the track is easier than on the streets for me.

Thanks this thread is very informant. Especially the video that surfcity40 posted

I still gotta learn how to heel toe one day. Did most of you guys find it difficult on the Z? I wear size 10.5 ~ 11 shoe and I wonder shoe size play as a factor.

The Z isn't that bad. The Gas pedal's height makes it harder than it should when under full braking, but it's lateral placement is pretty good. You should be just fine.

If you want to see bad pedal placement, try a mid 90's F-body. I don't think GM had even heard about H/T when they designed that.

OH, and WXSigns...why don't we swap notes via PM. Do you drive a 350Z on track, or another car? If so..where's the best heel placement. What about sequence inputs for the 5/3 shift. I always love to get more input from someone who really knows how to do it.

Just watched the video's above and DO NOT do it like the first one. That way is asking for trouble. His foot placement is prone to slip off the brake pedal and that's trouble. First priority is making sure you have a firm stance on the brake, and then work on the throttle blip. If you miss the blip it's no real loss, but if you miss the braking....

Thanks mhoward1, yeah the 1st video didn't sound too professional about it

One last thing, what do you mean by blip? I think I know what you mean but I wanted to be sure. I am assuming like a quick tap?

correct. To get a feel for the amount og throttle you need, you can rev the engine in neutral to see how much it takes to get the engine RPMs to about 3K and then back down. It's usually very little imput.

Well, I guess (for me) this depends on the definition of hard braking. I am defining hard braking something like the front straight as VIR (high speed into a slow corner) or even the front straight at CMP.

Under those conditions I find the heel-toe difficult becasue the brake pedal is much lower than the gas pedal. I agree that it is easier to heel toe on a moderte speed straight or even a high speed straight into a moderate speed corner because I am not pressing so hard on on the brake. I think this situation is the easiest, much easier than the street.

Also, I think this may be a very personal issue. People have different size feet, different flexibiltiy, etc.
