I take you to mean that the S2000 will outrun the Miatas in STR trim because of how they are classed in stock?
Giving the Miatas a bit more room to play with suspension and putting the whole class on a 245mm max width tire means that lightness wins (look at what's fast in ST), and the S2000 is a good 200-300lb heavier.
As it sits CS regularly out raw times 'higher' classes, both stock and otherwise. I think the S2000 will dice it up, but I think it will ultimately be a trio at the top: S2000, Miata and Solstice. And those are all quite different from the Z's formula, you have to admit.
Hopefully they make an ST home for the Z, whether in an existing class or not. Getting 150-200 competitive runs out of a set of $600 tires is much more attractive than getting half (or a quarter) that much out of tires that cost twice as much.

Side note, have any of you guys found a way to slightly warm all 4 tires before the run (other than blankets). My runs feel crappy until about 20 seconds in, like magic, the car suddenly starts to handle.

Instead of putting it around each of the tires, he just ran a length of it around the car, and let the car idle. In 40-50 degree weather he hit the course with tires at about 90 degrees.
