Default Power Steering Fluid

Tracked and drifted my z at several events now and my power steering fluid is turning dark. Noticed it boiling a few times at some of the events. So planning on upgrading the power steering cooler to the nismo but my question is are there any better fluids for more abusive driving other than oem nissan fluid? thanks

I'm interested as well... Anyone know of a brand to use for powersteering fluid, both for heavy track use or name brand autozone/pepboys brand. I googled and its says synthetic automatic fluid is good? Can anyone confirm this? I'd much rather use a bottle that says powersteering on it, if you know what I mean.

Before every race weekend we use something like an automotive turkey baster to take as much of the power steering fluid out of the container and then refill with Red Line Oil PS fluid. Red Line is the best that we have found so far. We also run a power steering cooler.

Make sure you have a good PS cooler. I have tried Redline, Royal Purple, Dextron ATF (Nissan recommended) all with good results. I can't honestly say which one is better than the other.

If you want your fluid to stay like new, add a filter. Your system will thank you by lasting forever.

I quart of Mobil 1 synthetic or any other synthetic ATF is all you need. Also ditch the Nismo cooler idea, you can get the same stuff for $30 thru Jegs or Summit. PM Jason for the part number or search under his posts.

threads about a year old now, but have been using redline fluid since with the nismo cooler and so far been working great no problems, steering feels great no discoloration in the fluid yet, and havnt seen it boiling either at track days.
