Default So my wife started autocrossing...

And she's one of the faster novices I have seen!

I so love that woman.

This is from her third (ever) autocross..

I finally got mine to go out in December. Here's pics (her car, not my Z)...

I thought she was going to just putt around the course but she shocked me and drove the hell out of it.

Thanks, everyone.

I keep telling her how good she is and she just keeps telling me I'm biased, and that she's not as fast as my brother and I. (We just started our fourth year of this.)

I honestly think she is at least as good as my brother and I were when we were about a year into this. (Maybe two)

She has great comprehension of proper lines, and her car-positioning discipline is just amazing.

While the course is still coming at her kind of quickly, she makes a conscience effort to look ahead. The course can still sneak up on her, but she always knows when she's off-line and what mistake she made that put her there. She is also able to put the car "on the cones" like a veteran.

In just three events, I have seen her learn to fix problems "on the fly" without slowing way down or getting the car out of shape.

Like I said, she is one of the better novices I have seen.

It was at my club, GCAC, in Fort Myers. I like brooksville, but our surface is a little better because it is less "choppy".

Our next event is this weekend.

Nice man!

I also got my girl to start autoxing last year. And she amazed me as well with her skillz and aggresiveness. Hell, she launched the Z harder than I did haha.

Here's her vid (1st time autox on bald 615's):

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/p7rDbw_jS_Q&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/p7rDbw_jS_Q&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

This year I already signed her up for points and we're ordering her own helmet too! And she only started doing this for me. Definitely a keeper!

I keep saying that women make the the best beginner AutoX'ers and track students. They don't bring the egos with them and most are naturally smooth on their inputs.

It's the next step they most don't tend to make. The one where you need to start rotating the car and being more aggressive on the inputs. Even with that though, I am really surprised we haven't seen more women at the top levels.
