Default Trackday hubcentric ring removal

I run RPF1s on the street, but will be switching out to my track wheels at races. My aluminum hubcentric rings need to be removed to run my track wheels (03-05 track rays). Mine have a dead-tight fit (even with significant sanding and lubing the hub prior to install), and removing can be an issue without some forethought.

I was wondering how you all prepare for having to remove these at the track. Blowtorch?

I don't run hub centric rings or hub centric wheels for the street or the track. Never been an issue.

On the street but not on the track. Your track wheels are probably pretty true.

I have to remove my hubcentric rings to mount my track wheels.

I'm asking if you guys have an easy way to do this trackside. Mine are on there pretty tight and I can see it being an issue.

It would, until you understand how tight mine are jammed on there. I didn't force them on, dont get me wrong, but even without the help of an xacto knife and some lube it would be impossible with the relatively blunt edge of a flathead. If there isn't some racer's trick I am missing, hell this might be my only option.

take some sand paper and remove a little material from inside the ring to make it fit a little loser, other than that switch to plastic.

no man, you are not missing anything... just like other said, take some sandpaper to them and use some anti-seize.

btw, don't use a torch on them, you can easily warp them.

I haven't run rings for over two year, and i have had no issues. Our wheels are lug centric. I used to track a lightning and those lug nuts were flat faced, those wheels were hub centric, with the tapered lug nuts and tapered holes, our wheels lug centric and I've not had any issues running without rings.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses.

I think I will prep the hub better (sand them down thoroughly), and use some anti-seize as recommended (I'll leave the blowtorch at home )
