I'm in the second track season with the Dunlops and am totally satisfied. After spending alot more $ on Toyo RA-1s for a couple seasons and having them wear too quickly (especially the front left tire at Putnam Park) I switched and have never looked back. Have done a 3 day event at Mid-Ohio this year and I actually couldn't see any visible wear at the end. Amazing. If you drive them any distance to the track and get caught in a downpour I found they hydroplane a bit over 70mph. But on the track they're great.

 

Star Specs FTW!

 

+1 for the Z1 star specs. I've been running them all season at the green hell without so much as a hickup. They are much better than the 615's I was running last year.

Oh wow I thought it was just my driving but the XS really do suck *** in the wet. Well, its probably mostly my driving but having crappy tires doesn't help while I'm crawling around the track in the rain.

 

OK, these aren't Z wheels and they are competiton wheels so I thought it was best to post it here.

So I received 12 of these wheels and I really don't know much about A-Tech. There isn't a lot on them on line other than Direct tire rebrands them as MB Wheels.

Anyone have info or opinions they want to share?

Marty, there is a tread on here somewhere about A-Tech. The wheels in the pictures are the same as Discount Tire Direct's MB Competition's. That is what I am running at the track. I like them.

I like them enough to take a set off your hands maybe if they are the right size and offset. I sent you a PM. Let me see what I can find on my wheels.

I remember that shipping weight on my 17x9's were 21 pounds. So, the wheels should be somewhat under that.

Also, nice car.

 

I run them as well, I kinda wish the offset was more aggressive but they are a nice light racing wheel, I'd lose those blue racing air valves, I had nothing but problems with them.

 

Did I mention before? Z1 star spec is awesome in the wet.

Getting my car ready for redline time attack, looking around for tires has to be 140 tread wear or higher. Currently running 18x9.5 and 18x10.5 but considering switching to 17x10 all around. Currently looking at the toyo r1r's, kumho xs, and federal rsr595. Just curious to see what other people are running and their opinions on the tires, thanks!

 

I took the Kuhmo XS to an HPDE at VIR back in July and was very pleased with their manners. After 6 20min sessions, they hardly look worn, the "ecsta" on the center rib is still visable for the most part. The grip was great and they never managed to get "greasy" during my experience, though with my "traffic heavy" HPDE's I wasn't able to push them for too long before catching something else.

I found a few rave reviews about them and decided to pull the trigger, mostly because they were cost effective in 275/45/17 and I wasn't sure how long I'd keep that setup.

bridgestone RE11 (driven on these, and they are awesome, not sure about track use, my experience is auto-x only)
new yokohama advan (no experience but supposedly they are better than the re11)

 

You can give the RT-615's a shot.

I ran two sets of these before putting rcomps on the Z. They perform and wear well but you must keep the hot pressures under 40psi so they don't get "greasy"

 

Can you run R-Compounds in your Time Attack Class?

 

currently using 615s, they are okay but have gotten a bit greasy at times on me. Class allows any DOT tire 140 treadwear or higher
