Default Hard to decide: Federal 595rs-r or RT615 for my track tires, please help me out

Purchased a set of rpf1 17x9 all around recently, plan to put 255/40 tires on them. Those 2 tires are in the almost same price range, its hard to decide which one should I get for my z.

the federal 595 RSR is an R compound tire... the falken are ultra high whatever street performance one generation older than actual ultra high whatever street performance.

p.s.
if you want to go cheap you can look also at the nitto nt01 for R compounds
and kumho XS for ultra high whatever street performance.

both excellent tires on the track.

I have never ran the Federal 595 RSR's, but they are 140 treadwear, so I would not consider them "R comps"

I have driven the 615's and am not a big fan of those. They "feel" great but are slower than most of the new high end street tires. (and they overheat a little too easy)

I would go with one of these;

Bridgestone RE-11

Kumho XS

Dunlop Star Specs

Hankook has a new RS-3 that people seem to like at the track too

There are others, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Would not recommend RT615's at all for track. They get really greasy when hot.

Good beginner tire for autox, but not for the track.

I think the rsr is a street tire

I would go for the Kumho XS or the Nitto NT05 , both are great street class track tires. The 615's aren't bad, but the other 2 i mention are in the same price range , possibly cheaper and are so much better of a tire.

Not sure what the others are talking about...I ran RT-615's and never had a problem with them. You have to make sure you are not over driving any tire or they get greesy when too hot.

I ran willowsprings, buttonwillow and cal speedway in 3 digit temps and the tires did great. I adjusted the pressures accordingly and they were sweet.

My vote is the RT-615's.

For usually less, the NT05's can be had. They stick better and are much less slick when overheated. I've driven on both, the NT05 is a much better tire.

+ 1 for Nitto NT05.

I really like this tire as far as grip and track performance. After a few laps they feel every bit as grippy as the RE-01Rs and Kumho Xs i've driven on before. What takes the cake for me is that they don't appear to wear as fast.

I did a search and there seems to be little info on the 595rsr's. I know they are 140 tread wear, etc, but does anyone have first hand experience on them? Looking for some alternatives to star specs, re-11r, etc. The price is very enticing, but I have the old adage "you get what you pay for" in the back of my head. Thanks.

was looking at all those tires before, got lucky and found some new yokohama neova ad08's for $140 each (reg price is ~$300 each on tire rack). Already have one track event on the yokohamas and man they are GREAT, and the tires still look brand new. Hoping they will last me through this season they are 180 treadwear but have excellent traction. Bit on the pricey side, but dunno if i can use anything else now that ive spoiled myself.

Any websites? Every where I look 275/18 NT01/NT05 and XS are all around $240 while the RT615 are around $190 with the $80 rebate.
I've been wanting to try the XS or Nitto's but the lower weight and price of the Falken keeps dragging me back.
