Running a stock Z at the track
I'm planning to run a track day in my stock '08, any advice? I'm a newb and will be driving in a class that requires an instructor.
Anyone been to the track stock? If so, have you had any issues?

Try taking some driving lessons first, so you can learn how to control your car better, etc. also listen to the instructor.. they know what theyre doin.

Unlike Gran Tourismo the guard rails are not your friend.

I don't do video games.
The group I am running in is for newbs with no prior track experience so hopefully the instructor is helpful!

^^^ Sorry, I don't really get Nick Hogan reference...
Is there a problem with the question I am asking? Has no one been to a track day with a stock Z?

I did a track day in my "stock" 07 Z (only Stillen dual intakes added) and it was a BLAST!!! I am going again in 2 weeks.
You are going to have a great time. You don't need to do anything to your car...other then make sure everything is working properly (i.e. brakes).
One thing you MUST remember which I didn't know until I went to my last session is don't apply your e-brake after lapping sessions as your brakes will be HOT.
Also, usually you get a cool down lap before you pull in and use that to go easy on your car.
Good luck, its as I said a lot of fun and you can go all out without worrying about any tickets.
The Z stock feels like it was made for the track.

Nick Hogan started similar threads here when he had his Z.

Just make sure everything is in proper working order (maintenance related items) .....I would swap to a high temp brake fluid at a minimum though.

I have done HPDE several times with the 350Z as is. Check tire pressure, top off fluids. The Z did just fine.

I like NAPA dot 4 brake fluid, easy on the wallet, and no problems eva. Or you go with the brand ***** stuff, motul or redline, your choice.

Keep an open mind about things and leave your pride @ home. There will be cars you least expect that will pass you.

BTW HPDE is the best mod you can do for the money. The capabilities of the 350Z with an experienced driver behind the wheel (instructor) is nothing short of awesome.
