I'm in Europe, so my range of tracks is pretty high. However, for my first two years, I've been hitting the Hungaroring F1 circuit. I've gained a bit of experience, with and without the Z.

I've gone from the stock Z, to a Z with mods (including brakes, which are really important on a street-type circuit like Monaco that runs and runs) and slicks. I've also gone there with my former BMW E30 and an upgraded (turbo & all) Audi B7 2.0TFSI Quattro.

This year, I plan to visit Monza, the Nurgburgring and Hungaroring, totalling about 10 trackdays throughout the year.

I am NOT an expert and don't consider myself one. I'm merely enjoying driving my car to its limits, and becoming a better driver. The first couple of trackdays I took things slow, learned the track, DID NOT keep time (very important for noobies) and generally followed others to learn the lines and track-etiquette.

That's awesome man... I'm always curious, usually jealous, and often scared shitless by the differing event structures of track days in Europe. Curious if you've done events stateside, and how they compare to what you're experiencing over there?

And what's up with the Vette w/Florida tags!!?

 

Very cool, thanks for sharing! I am hoping I get to hit some Europe tracks if work takes me to Germany sometime soon.

 

I think it's just an imported car... or could be someone from the US stationed around here.

As far as the racing goes, there are courses for all skills, plus the FIA-approved ones. Those are the big races. When I get more experience, and a decent budget, I'm planning to do some 12 Hour races. They are grueling but you can keep the budget fairly low and compete in a good class where you can actually win. And thanks to switching drivers every 2 hours, you can get some friends and build and drive a car together (and share the costs, of course).
