SA2010 Helmets - Pyrotect, Bell, or HJC?
All 3 are SA2010 rated, full face helmets. All 3 currently sell for less than $300. I'm in the market to get one but have not have any experienece with any of them. There are no shops near me that I can go and try each of them on. Which one would you choose and why? I wear glasses, do any of them fits better than other with glasses?
Soloracer.com has all 3 of them for sale. Take a look:

As an avid motorcyclist, HJC would be last on my list. I've never heard of Pyrotect though. So of the above choices I would go with the Bell. If you can afford it I would buy an Arai or a Shoei.

Get into a store and try the helmets on for size. You want to make sure your helmet is comfortable and you can only do that by going to a store and trying them on and trying them on with your glasses. I have 3 different helmets that I can wear when I opt out for two wheels vs four, and depending on which helmet will also determine which glasses I wear. I also wear glasses and my everyday glasses do no fit comfortably under any of my 3 helmets. I had to get a different frame and lenses that would fit comfortrably.
As far as helmet vendors, Bell, Simpson, Arai, Shoei, get my vote as the best in class, not necessarily in that order. Each vendor has several models so try as many as possible and don't rush this either. Walk around the store with helmet on and make sure it fits correctly and is comfortable. Good luck shopping.......

Buying a helmet without fitting can be tough. If you have a hat with a size inside, you can use that as a guide. You can also use a tape. Look at the retailer's return policy. You do not want to get stuck with a helmet that does not fit properly.
BTW with 35 years of helmet experience I stick with Bell and Simpson.

I wear a Pyrotect , G-Force doesn't fit me as well, Zamp doesn't fit my head at all. You need to try them on.
BTW avid motorcyclist, and high end HJC is just fine, and was my helmet of choice for a while. Only been knocked out 3 times now, taken many hard crashed. The lightest crash i got knocked out in was my Shoei, and was the worst concussion.

pyrotect is a lower brand of helmets made by bell, so they are good quality, but biggest issue would be fitment. I personally use a bell but bought mine over 5 years ago when i knew less about helmets, still happy with my bell no complaints, mines the m2 i think its the one with the wide eye ports as i wear my glasses under the helmet.

As eveyone has said, it's about which one fits not the brand name. Each brand is shaped slightly different. For me the G-Force pro line fit me better than the Simpsons and Arai. The new HJC's SA line is actually getting good reviews. But as others have said, you need to try then out.
One thing though, if you go to a shop and then buy online, be sure to give them $25 bucks or so for letting you try them out.

I have both an Arai GP-5 and a HJC AR-10... The AR-10 is comfortable and runs around the same sizes as an Arai would(I've been told they run small). My fitted cap size is a 7 to 7.25 and the medium fits well on both helmets. The quality of the the HJC is very impressive considering the price and this is in comparison to the Arai which is close to 3x's the price.

I just bought the lightweight Pyro: http://www.soloracer.com/pyrotectproair.html
It came with a free bag and I used a 10% off coupon (2010helmetsale). I assume that is expired, but the online coupons are out there. $269 for a quality, SA2010, helmet can't be beat. It fits me very well, and I've used it for some long stints without my typical neck cramping.

Thanks for your input guys. Looks like each brand has its own fans here. I guess I'll just pick one and see how it fits me. Pretty much all the online shops will let you return/exchange if there's fitment problems, I just need to pay for the shipping costs.

Are you going for autocross or track time? For autocross I use HJC that I get from www.soloperformance.com. For track I would spend a few more bucks and go with a nice Bell.

I run one of the Bell Sport helmets, they come predrilled for Hans anchors if you ever get one in the future. $279 here with a free bag. They also give NASA members 10% off.
