2012 SCCA T3 350Z Race Car Thread / Build
I've never even seen a Z W2W in my region anyway. Only a couple in TT and a few in HPDE.
This series, if it takes off, will most likely not until next year.
Scott, I hope NASA's decision to do this doesn't make you feel bad about your decision to buy the T3 car. SCCA has a much better turn out for 350Z than NASA does by far. You'll get better competition there.

Personally, I think it's too late in the game to get a decent turn out for a new Spec series when the first race is. . . next month? I don't even know if the parts are readily available for shipment. I have my Nissan guy calling their NISMO guy now. There needs to be at least 3 Z cars in each race to qualify for the contingency. From what I'm told, that's the same as SCCA, but SCCA will likely have much better following at this point (again - first race is next month, but my car doesn't need an entire overhaul at this point either).

Nothing back yet. He is always too busy for this kind of crap.
That's next weekend for the first event. There isn't a drop down for SpecZ at any of the events that reg is open for, but I don't know if they'd start the new series mid-season.
Some of us have known since November but I was sworn to secrecy. I have been hunting for a good 03 to 05 donor car. I know of a couple car builds that will happen next month for the series. Also know somone who will be key developer of these spec cars locally. Think its a bit early to reveal whats happening.

Updates:
A) I'm going to turn the car into a NASA SpecZ car
B) Suspension package on order
C) Door bars and emergency kill switch going in now
D) Rev-up motor ok for SpecZ. The car will be entered as an 05/06
E) After comparing to my 03' GreenZ, there aren't any noticeable, additional, seems welded minus where the fix is from the wreck. NASA tech said that was ok.

I expect I'll be the only one at the March 10/11 event at Sears Point. I'll run the car as-is at that time to see how it feels. I need to drive 5 NASA events to qualify for their national license so that I can go to the nats in September. That's my hope and plan, and I'd expect to not be the only SpecZ at THAT event! I'm hoping that some of the local Z-ers will go to the local events also. Even if their cars aren't completely sorted out and "in-spec" it'd be fun to at least play for the contingency while we all learn more about it.
The only thing that will really peeve me off, however, is if NASA changes the specs on the class, ultimately penalizing the early adopters.

Keep in mind that an Event is a single race, so a weekend will have two races. It's not too hard to qualify for nationals as long as there aren't any bad notes in your log or in the event incident log.
