Dealing with some overheating issues the car came through with barely enough to beat a C7Z06 and C6ZR1 in my class by 0.15 seconds at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Formerly Mosport) on my first visit.

Wow great time, you are running a DE 350z, on 200tw tires...considering the 2014 CTSCC #14 370z qually time at CTMP was 1.28 and change.

Good job.

I just wrote an insightful and detailed 30 minute entry with pictures and the site logged me out before I could post it.

Wow, again writing as response and my computer restarts and updates...

So very quick. I managed to hold on to win at Mosport despite being way down on power to my opponents (Like half the horsepower) and having never been there.

I think training with Assetto Corsa helped.

So after 4 rounds of the championship I am first in class, and first amongst rookie competitors, and in the top 3 overall on PAX out of 75.

But my goal for the season is to win the SGT1, Novice, and Overall championships.

I am not sure that has been done before, and I don't think its been done from such a high class.

The next round is at Calabogie motorsports park. My car did not like the heat at Mosport so I am dropping out of Calabogie to put in a new Koyo Rad, move the intake, and change up the PCV and catch can system to control the amount of oil I'm burning. I don't understand how it all works. I'm mostly just a driver at this point. But the car needs to be on it's game. I'm also switching to MS109 fuel from Shellbourne 110. I just feel the shellbourne fuel is too inconsistent.

I have never been to Shannonville, and my top opposition has been there many many times. My challenge will be to get to a P1 pace on PAX in 3 to 6 sessions on track. Nearly impossible? Maybe, but I have to win these to push myself into the number 1 spot.

So I've downloaded an old game, rFactor since I found some downloadable replicas of the tracks I will be running August 15th and 16th.

The car in the game I think feels the most like my Z is this Panoz Esperante racecar. I know the Esperante is much more powerful, and lighter, but I think it's better to run a faster pace in the game, because things in the car in real life seem to unfold much faster than they do in a video game.

Here is my first effort at the August 15th Pro layout

I calculate my car will have to run that layout in a 1:11 to win.

And here is my first attempt at the Long layout.

I calculate my car will have to run that in a 1:52 to win.

No I haven't. But in this game I've since taken 1.3 seconds off my lap time. woot. Shannonville!

Hey Mike,

Not that you care about mosport at this moment, but from the video posted you can make up time with a better line through 3. I am of the opinion that a shallow entry (mid track) into three (and wider exit) gives you a lot longer on the throttle leading up to 4 which in turn is the fastest corner on the course. Should save you a bunch?

Yes everyone says that. And they are right.

I was running on 4 cyllinders. I was over heating and 2 spark plug tips melted. I was literally expecting more slip angle when I started applying power.

My next two laps were faster through every corner, but I was just sputtering down the straights.

How many cylinders do you need!?!

Great thread though, I enjoy reading about your progress.
