Yeah, buddy! I'll be there again this year. Praying for nice weather.

Are you guys sitting down? I'm selling my Z! Actually, it's been up for sale since October. I want to buy a... umm, well, I'll just say it.. a MIATA! I want to go spec Miata racing. The Z is just too nice and too expensive for me to continue to use it at the track, especially if I want to start competing.

So, I'll be at Mid-Ohio, definitely. What I don't know is what I'll be driving. If I sell the Z soon, I should have enough time to find a Miata and get it ready for the track. Also, I bought a '97 M3 in October (figured FOR SURE I wouldn't have any problem selling the Z.. uh oh). So I might show up in a Bimmer.

What group are you guys running in? I'll probably register in HPDE 2, maybe 3.

You're selling your car? No!!!!

Well, regardless of your vehicle of choice, it's the person who makes it count at the track. You better be there!

I think I might sign up for Group 3.

This is great! Should be a large group of DRIVERS! I just got my second 6 point Schroth Profi III harness, and.....waiting for a brake cooling duct kit.......I'm pumped!

How many are doing all 3 days? Will we get at least 4 20 minute sessions per day?

Can anyone help me determine which group to sign up for? Too many choices.

BJ....my arm would be twisted if you'd help with an install of your A-Arms..........

Those are some nice harnesses. I believe that James has the same set, and if so, they're really damned nice! Do you have a roll bar or what? Also, what brake duct kit are you going to be installing?

How many events have you done? Have you driven Mid-Ohio before?

I think I might be signing up for all 3 days, since MO is such a fun, yet technical track. I'm not looking forward to the drive home (~400 miles) and going to work on Monday. Oh well.

Yeah, he has a tendency to do that.

Bruce (that is your name right?), you will probably want to rent garage space... since there seems to be a lot of interest here, I imagine that we'll end up renting 2-3 spaces between all of us. I'll message Nate (WRX / S2000 guy) to see if he's interested in joining in).

Well, it looks like I'll finally have some Z company in group 3. So there goes my aura of superiority! Oh, well...

I'll be there all three days. I'm tring to remember the schedule from last year. I think there were at least four sessions, but some were as much as 30 minutes.

Your group is determined by your level of experience. Here's what the NASA Web site says.
Group one
This is where you begin. This is one on one guidance from experienced racers, as you learn to control your car and yourself. Your mentor will provide you with guidance as you learn to drive at the limit. You will address how to approach a turn, the fast way around it, what gear should you be in, how to brake, and how to exit. The session generally includes a lead-follow session. Passing is very limited in the Group 1 Sessions.

Group two
Your mentor has determined you can drive on your own and with less supervision. You apply what you learned in the group 1 sessions. The pace is faster, and the passing rules are more relaxed.

Group three
You have progressed to the world of high performance driving. The passing rules in group 3 are not as strict. You must learn to share the track at high speeds with others.

Group four
Congratulations! You have made it, no passing restriction except those of good judgment and rules of the road etiquette. You and your peers are now experiencing the joys of doing it right in a safe environment! You can now enjoy high performance driving at its finest. Those that wish to can petition to apply for a competition license.
If you have any questions, e-mail Mike Mansier, the organizer. He was very helpful to me last year when I had similar questions. He can tell you about the schedule, too.

John's right, I have the Schroth belts. See here.

I've booked at the Ramada. About $68 a night. You can get that rate at Ramada.com or Orbitz. If you don't want the hot tub, Days Inn right across the street is only $38.

Oh, BTW, I got the name of the town wrong: it's Bellville, not Belleville. If you search on Belleville, you'll get Ontario. (Interestingly, there's a track there, too: Shannonville.)

Looking forward to seeing you all.

Hey guys,

I'm Nate the one with the WRX that was there last year. I suggest getting a garage. I had one last year and it's pimp If you sign up for one early you don't get stuck with one of the ones on the ends. I'm already scheduled for one with a Scooby buddy of mine in the middle with 2 doors. It's $175 for three days. I may bring the car up on Friday and leave it in the garages overnight until Saturday and Sunday. And drive the S2000 up those days with the GF

I autocrossed with brackethead this summer once, the M3 is pretty clean. I've got a friend with a red 3.2 M3 coming also, maybe you guys can chase each other around.

I'm still working on taking weight out of my car. Power door locks - NO NEED!

Anyway, look forward to seeing you all there. I'll be in group 3 as well.

Nate- get a pick-up and trailer for your WRX and be really pimp! Then you could come down to Cinci and show us how to auto-x.

In HPDE 1 last year we had 4 sessions on Friday, then 3 each on Saturday and Sunday.

Right, but most or all of the Sat-Sun sessions were 30 minutes, right?

(When you get to be my age, your memory is the second thing that goes. I don't remember what the first thing is.)

Uhhh, I must be at that age, too! Yes, I think you're right, Saturday's sessions were longer than Fri. (I wasn't there on Sunday.)

The A arm installs are pretty simple. We will be bringing some up to Mid Ohio with us incase anyone is interested in them.
This should be a fun event again.

Just have to wait and see.
Def have my street car and 1 other Z up there.
I am ordering the SParco stuff next week to bolt in a passenger seat in one of the race cars.

I have a feeling we are going to be doing a lot of Konis shocks installs before that weekend.
Koni installs!

Hehe, need some real tires to do that I figure I keep up with Dennis in the SM M3 (he is a very good driver) with Kumhos on and the guy in the little 3rd gen Civic hatch with 14" Hoosier Autocrosser or A3S03's only beat me by half a second and won the last event I was in with the WRX last summer so I'm pretty much okay now. There'll be a couple 240's in my class next year, one with an RB25DET and one with an SR20DET so we'll see if I need some real tires.

I don't remember what car I was in when you were up in Columbus last summer? If you think the WRX is fast you should see me in an S2000 I love that freaking car. There's an HPDE on Good Friday (the Friday after NASA) that I'll probably take that car to on street tires just for fun.

I think I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I won't be doing any more than 3-4 HPDE's a year anyway just due to money and there are that many at Mid Ohio. So I'll just keep driving the car up there for a few years for now and not have a truck and trailer.

Woof! My best (measured) time last year (in a bone stock 350Z, not a race car, of course) was 1:52.47. That's if John was operating the stopwatch correctly. (Oh yeah, I had about 150 extra pounds along, too.)

Since I'm still bone stock (may have new Toyo tires), I think getting a second or three under 1:50 will be my goal.

I'm also seriously thinking about getting the MaxQData system. About a grand, but good for "tightening the nut behind the wheel."

I'm getting excited! But jeez, its still two and a half months away. But VIR could be only five or six weeks, weather permitting.

Save money and buy a MYCHRON 3+AUTO.
It will do everything except wash the car.
We have installed a ton of these things in PCA cars. Make sure you get the 3+ AUTO becausee the sensors are different.
It will do G's, wheel speed, shift lights, temps, overlay lap times, ecclectic (theretical) lap time, lap time+- , Gear display, and even plot horsepower.
They are the best bang for the buck out there.
Let me know I have them in stock.

Looks like I'm not the only one getting bored with Winter! Glad to see so much interest. I'll probably pass on the hot tub, and might splurge on a garage........BUT SHEEEEET.....in 8 HPDE's last year, the most I did other than adjust tire presure, was........filling the washer bottle, as the G's in turn 5 at Blackhawk triggered the annoying warning light!

As to what group to run...........PCA bumped me out of instruction, and out of novice within 10 laps. My next PCA event, my friend/ex-instructor said I could move up to the next group whenever I wanted.......sooooooo, I'm good/far-from-great at Blackhawk. The next group is for full race cars. But I've never DRIVEN Mid-Ohio. So I'm leaning towards group 2 to start. Most events allow changes in group choice as the event progresses. Oh, yah, I had a SCCA National license with my G Prod Spitfire way back.

As to how I'm installing my Schroth belts........working on the details...........but I am fabbing a custom/full seat travel harness bar.......not quite ready to share........

Time for a drink, and, as my memory....what did I say????? What questions did I forget to answer?

Sounds like a lot of us are going to have a BLAST!
