Would XP12 front XP10 rear be overkill for my first set of race pads? Keep in mind that I'm on street tires.
http://www.craftsman.com/craftsman-c...4&blockType=G4 yup, great setup.
XP12 will be fine.
Really, I had use ST-41 and 43, they lock up RS3 very very easily. I couldnt even step on the brake pedal more than 1/2 way. I bet your ABS must have kicked in on every braking zone. Was it?
I can personally recommend the XP10's and XP8s, and many of the other guys rave about the DCT60s. The lower XP's do ok for street use as long as you don't mind a lot of dust.
As far as the calipers, the Brembo's are good choices, you just seen to have enough pad now for how hard you are braking.

It's never kicked in on track, only time it kicked in was when I was bedding them in and didnt know what to expect stopping/pedal feel wise.
YES! Brownbos! LOL
Evo guys get this a lot. Most evo owners seem to think that they can take their car from comfortably dropping off their SOs and children at the mall directly to running 10/10ths at Road Atlanta with no changes in setup at all. (I've seen Evos tracking in the dead of summer, on all season tires... anyway..)
I mean no offense what-so-ever, but stop being lazy about tracking your car. It could kill or harm you. Taking the wheels off to change pads before racing also allows me to do a quick final visual check before I go out. Anything can happen between the garage and the race track. Last time i tracked the car, my buddy strapped the car down wrong, crimping a brake line in the tow strap. The line had gotten abraded and most likely would have burst had i went out on it. It's so easy to do with Brembos and it makes the car that much faster. Comparing Pbox data on XP10s vs the OEM pads is unfair and comical.
