I might be willing to work out a deal on my Tomei V2's (currently on the car) after Solo Nationals if you can wait that long...

It's six inches downwind to the inlet of the new cat, measured from the outlet of the old one. The old outlet being at the flange for the y pipe, I don't see how you couldn't move the cats to the y pipe and still be legal.

The ppe headers appear to start and end at the same relative locations on the car as the factory setup, I don't see how you could get much/any additional length in that space.

The PPE "long tube" setups (I haven't seen any other kind of PPE header?) seem to derive their name from being longer than the stock setup. From the pics I have seen....more than 6" longer.

Not sure which way I will be going on breathing mods, but it won't be until after nationals anyway, so I'm not in a hurry.

I just got a set of used RPF1's 18 X 10.5 +15 and rolled my fenders last night. 3 fenders went well. The 4th, which had aftermarket paint from a parking lot incident, cracked the (aftermarket) paint.

The 275/45 rivals should be here this week. I intend to mount them and test fit on the car this weekend.

I have some road-course time coming up in august, so I will probably kill the skinny tires on my old wheels there. Then I will start testing the new wheel/tire combo at the next autocross event. I want to disable the rear sway bar, soften the front sway, and see how the car is balanced with my current F/R spring balance. From there, I hope to make an educated guess on spring rates, then send my old Koni's out for a custom revalve.

After listening to a lot of sound clips of single outlet exhausts, I'm probably not going that route. I know I will leave some HP on the table, but I'm driving this car to the events and I think the sound would get old fast.

I found a couple dual-outlet exhausts that sound good and allow for more power. Still on the fence regarding headers, but I'm set on upgrading everything from there back.

Here's an image of a PPE Long-tube next to a DE Headder and cat pipe.
Through the magic of MS paint, i've added a few marks relative on both pipes. Green for catalytic inlet, and red for outlet.

By the rule set, you can combine multiple cats inline into one high-flow cat, as long as the INLET of the replacement cat is within 6" of the outlet of the last original cat.

When i look at these pipes, with all the heat sheilding, it appears that the cat extends down fairly close to the flange, thus the flange being considered the exit doesn't seem unreasonable.

On both the PPE and the factory setup, this would then feed into the Y-Pipe. Being all the factory mount points can be maintained for exhaust, that means the pipes in this section have to have to be relatively in the same places, lengths, etc.

So, by these assumptions, as long as I can make them clear the body, i could put two catalytic converters in the y-pipe, within 6" of the header flanges and be considered legal.

Initial "testing" shows no signs of rubbing. More grip now, and more body roll.

I'm looking forward to the stiffer suspension now.

Thanks. I think I'm going to take a sharpie to those scratches around the rim on the rear wheels. lol

Oh, I forgot to mention how easy it is to mount 275/35 18's on these 10.5" wheels.

I probably would have upgraded to wider wheels years ago if I had known how much easier mounting tires would be. (I also think the well defined "drop" on the barrel helps too.)

Paul at PPE just finished up a beautiful set of mid-length integral cat headers. These are similar to some other setups he's done for various STR applications. They saved some good weight off the factory manifolds and Berk HFC's too. Can't wait to get these in and the car back on the dyno! His delivery was quick, so there's still time for you guys to get a set before Nationals.



For now, it's back to fixing a rear main seal leak. For those interested, I went with a Luk brand OEM equivalent flywheel and it looks to be identical to the factory Nissan unit I pulled out. Weights were the same as well.

I want send a big thank you out to Z1 for killer service and delivery at getting me a bunch of required parts in time to wrench this weekend. The Z community is lucky to have a great supporting vendor like these guys.

This look fantastic. What's your target for dyno time? Real curious about power and NVH.

yea for fitment testing 150 to 175 a wheel is a lot better then 700 lol.
