i figured that at least w/ the fortunes i could get closer rates (like 1000/700) to start, but i have queried muellerized for some custom ohlins as well.
by the way, i saw your shocks from a couple years ago with no responses to the thread. i'm figuring they're gone by now, but i also figure it woudn't hurt to ask if they're still available?

Long gone. My old Motons are gone now as well. The OTS Ohlins took a big price dip this year, but they are still pretty soft. Personally, if you want to go up to competitive spring rates, you'll probably want to call up someone like Jeff Wong at Pro Parts, Guy at Ankeny Racing, etc...
Brian is using Koni 2812's built by Jeff and I use Penske's made by Guy. We are both pleased.

as i mentioned, im not going for a competitive setup at all, just simply to balance the car out and learn to drive better. life is happening so im trying to do my best with a tight budget. there's no way i'm getting my car to a national event.
what about this? i contacted chris and they're still available.

edit: unfortunately he has no idea what sort of valving is on these and im honestly a bit surprised that he's running 500lb springs on off the shelf koni sports.
edit edit: i looked at his blog a bit more and he has quite a few posts on vinyl for his car and hardly anything on his suspension. not feeling too confident about the setup, perhaps i should pass :P

Curious for you guys running the Hankooks. What tire pressures have you been successful with?
We've been having a difficult time getting the tires to temp as well. Even with two drivers. We're even using tire blankets between runs. Can barely get them at or over 100F.

i was also wondering what you mean by "site dependent" for the rear sway bar. do you mean that depending on the site, it may be disconnected completely? i only race at one site and the course layouts tend to be pretty tight and technical.

just thought id share my current setup that im working on that I will be getting aligned and corner-balanced next week hopefully.
Koni Yellows revalved by Proparts(front coilover sleeves)
ProParts front Pillow upper mounts
1000lb 6in 2.5ID Hyperco Linear Race Springs front
800lb 6in 2.5ID Hyperco Linear Race Springs rear
6in Hyperco Helper springs rear
Genesis Helper spring guides
BC Racing rear 2.5in bucket adapters and coilover perches
Kinetix front upper control Arms
18x10.5 ET15 RPF1s in gunmetal w/ 285/35 RS3s
Test fit the drivers side front and rear yesterday. I had to order a helper spring setup for the rear as there is a pretty sizeable gap between the upper perch and the bucket seat with the suspension unloaded(full droop). To accompany the helper spring I went with a spring guide to keep the helper together with the main spring. I have attached pictures of the hyperco spring divider(this will not work with a helper spring as it could interfer with the perch) versus an interesting piece I found on Amazon.com from Genesis. Its an aluminum guide specifically designed to work with the helper spring and still provide clearance to the perches for the main spring to compress.
On a side note for the rears. I went with the 6" helper spring over the 4" because fully compressed (its a zero rate spring mind you) it will provide an extra 1/2" of ride height. The 6inch main spring is almost too short (you will start out on the coilover sleeve with a 13/16" drop at maximum ride height). And the 7" main spring will be too long in the rear not allowing for a lot of height adjustment. 6"main + 1/2" helper = just right

i want to say the bucket adapters were like 80$ and the perches were 100$ from BC racing. Yes SPL does have metal bushings for the shock tower connection. These bushings could easily be swapped out for delrin inserts as they just come right out

The switch to spherical bearings and metal bushings make them not legal to my understanding. You would need to have new bushings fabricated and rid the spherical bearings which doesn't seem that difficult to do if you have the engineering resources.
arm to shock tower bearings screw right out
the bearing that mounts to the upright is also very easy to take out. The metal bushing screws out and the bearing is held in place with a C clip. whether or not the upright bearing on this is illegal or not I am not sure. The stock arm does use a ball joint setup to connect to the upright.

Updates from this weekend
Front - The 7" spring on the front of the sleeved Koni Yellow is too long. I believe ProParts gave me the 7" since thats what they did for Brians car. Keep in mind he is using a 2812 Koni Race shock(different shock body). Ill be calling ProParts this afternoon to get the 6" spring (hopefully they can do a straight exchange).
Rear - i received my helper springs and the guides will be here today
Control arms - after speaking with the engineer who will be corner balancing and aligning my car I think I am going to forgo the SPL arms due to cost of modifying them to work for STU(still think they are an amazing product). The Kinetix are cheap enough and the difference will go towards the alignment/corner balancing and the fabrication of adjustable sway bar links(needed to keep the bar from preloading)

We're getting closer with the Project Z as well. It's heading for The Mitty at Road Atlanta this weekend for display, but I'll be running it at a local test event the first weekend of May and at the Atlanta Match Tour in mid May.
We're starting out a little lighter on spring rates than everyone else. Fronts are around 800 and rears are like 680ish. We've got zero experience with the ISC shocks, so we didn't want to start out by overwhelming them. I figure we can always work our way up. One really cool feature of the ISCs is the adjustable overall shock length. it gives the ability to adjust ride height without losing travel or changing preload. Pretty slick.
I've also got the front SPC arms installed. Supplied bushings weren't legal so we built some Delrin ones.
And we finally got the wheel and tire package just in time for it to go on the truck to The Mitty: 18 x 10.5 TSW Nurburgrings and 275-35-18 BFG Rivals.
Really looking forward to getting stomped in this car by all the C5s that magically appear at Nationals
