How to Build a Competitive Autocross 350z.
what do u think of the OS Giken LSD? I was chatting with Nick Barbato over the weekend regarding me setting up my HR for STU and he mentioned OS Giken. i did read a good review yesterday on it by someone on the forum. I have currently no experience in AutoX other than copiloting with Nick in his S2000 on hoosiers which was awesome!!
any pointers with my current setup and plans are appreciated
2008 Touring Coupe
k&N drop ins
Z1 HFCs
Motordyne resonated ypipe
Nismo exhaust
Plans for 2014 in order of importance
-Osiris Tune (recommendations on tuners is appreciated CT/NY/NJ/MA/RI, anyone work with RDZ motorsports in CT?)
-OS Giken LSD (80% sold on this diff but still doing my homework)
-Stoptech pads for nonbrembo, stainless lines and fluid (recommendations on pads and fluids welcome)
-ENKEI RPF1s 18x10.5 all around with 285 Hankook RS3s
-coilovers or spring shock combo and alignment(really like KW V3s coilovers on previous vehicles ive owned but open to recommendations, maybe swift springs? 1000/900? and konis? complete noob on this for the Z)
-that will probably be it for 2014 assuming business is good and i can cough up the funds. any other little things im missing?

I've started working on the next installment, but don't expect it to be put up here until at least next weekend. Unfortunately, I only have Weds of this week, unlike a bunch of you other slackers
.
.
my dilemma is managing the cost (i have to make sure the mortgage is paid, i have other expensives hobbies, etc, and keep the girlfriend happy) of the build for daily use, STU and some track days. Other mods I still need to do is a Tune, ive decided on doing a Quaife 1.5way diff both for cost and streetability, and ill need a set of wheels and tires, and a few other miscellaneous small things just to get going.

Ya I don't know what this guy is doing with the stance coil overs anyway. I did call around on the Koni setup a few hours ago. I guess Koni has front sleeves but I will have to contact BC for rears. Swift didn't have a direct answer for me on what size coil over spring I need. I believe i need 2.5in but I was unsure of the length. Should I do 500/400? Or stiffer in the rear. I'll only be running a front bar

Once you go over 500 the OTS Koni's have to be revalved. Koni sells the two front perches for ~75 a piece. 8"x2.5" should be fine, but you may need helpers. I can't say for certain, I never ran a spring that soft...

It may also be of benefit for you to poke around and see if you can find a lightly set of V3's in the same price range. It would be "easier" w/o having to piece stuff together for a Koni set-up.
That was my original plan. I would still want to upgrade the springs as the KW V3s have progressive springs that have a wide range. It seems like the Koni Yellow is the way to go on a budget. I found a site selling them for 800$. And cornerthreegarage.com sells the swift springs for 336.60 for a set. Not a bad deal. Just need to figure out spring sizing and sleeves. KW has the front sleeves but not the rears.

Which swift springs, if you get a kit designed for the 350z, you don't need the perches. KW V3's come with every thing you need, but I think it comes with a 5" ID rear, which limits upgrade options.
the metric coilover springs im assuming are the ones I will need in order to get a 500/450 coilover setup. the spec R spring kit designed for the Z are like 410/480 and lower the car 1.2/1.0.

No, you need to just buy 2.5"x8" 500/400 (450 wouldn't be my choice) springs from hyperco or eibach. I am not crazy about the a 70 pound stiffer rear. You are going to have to run a stock rear bar and probably full stiff on the front bar to make that work...
