Ok need some advice. I plan to run scca solo in STU next year, for a year or 3, them if I still like running the car, have time, blah blah, move to NASA Spec Z (if it's still around)

I did a lot of research on this site, plus others, and settled on Penske shocks. They are willing to build me custom 8300 for a very friendly price.

However, the spec z kit ~$3000ish (shocks, springs, sway bars) will cost me the same as the 8300 dampers alone. Granted, the KW are setup for 800# ft & 600#rr (if I read that correctly) Not sure if they would handle 1000# or more?

Also the nismo LSD kit is roughly the same price as a Cusco RS LSD (+ bearings, seals, fasteners).

I'm not a big KW fan, I'd pony up for the 8300's. I love mine. With Penske's, though, it is all about the builder. I would call Ankeny. If you plan to drive the car on the street much, bot the nismo and cusco make lousy choices. I love the cusco on course, but it is clunky and noisy around town.

The Z has never been a daily driver, 2003 w/ 29K mile, but drove it like I stole it, until the diff bushing exploded. So daily drivability is not a concern or noise. Build cost is. I thought the STU build would be ~$6000, now I see it's more like ~$9000+.

No one seems to mention the KW much, other then the NASA guys (no choice I guess). I was thinking if I buy NASA SpecZ legal parts now, it would save me $ on the later build.

Penske is willing to custom build me the 8300 to the high lbs springs recommended. Company I work for does custom components for their F1 shocks, so I assumed they know what they are doing when building to order?

I have some unmodified Kinetix arms as well, if need those as well.

Since there is not OTS Penske for the 350z, if you call Guy, he can just build them for you off the measurements I sent him...otherwise you will have to do it yourself. If I'm honest, I don't have those measurements any longer, but they were somewhat based off the motons I had prior.

Hey, I'm setting up a similar koni set up. I just noticed that there was only 1 of the spring perches in stock online (at jegs). I went ahead and ordered it, but the second one is backordered until december or january.

Do you know if this product from truechoice is basically the same?

http://www.truechoicekoniracingservi...r-kit-aluminum

also, I am using bilsteins in the rear instead of the konis. The guy from BC racing told me its possible when the suspension unloads that the spring can come out of the perches and fall out of the sizing isnt right, if I use their rear spring perches. I was going to go with the 8 inch springs as mentioned earlier in this thread. would these work properly with the bilsteins as well?

Thanks

I use megan rears with a 6" spring, but at my rate and ride height the spring cannot come out. Just so you know, last I heard the truechoice rear perches were ~$450 for the pair. You should never unload the rear tire enough to get the spring loose....

For sure, I wouldn't imagine unloading that much would be easy. I'll go with the spring I planned and see how that works out. If I don't like it I can always buy a new spring. I'm going to get the BC rears since Megan only Has the tops in stock.

But do you know, is the part I linked the same sleeves that fit the front on the konis?

Yeah, because apparently I purchased the only Koni one in stock on the Internet until sometime in December. If those front sleeves from true choice are the same, Im going to buy those

Front sleeves from truechoice are the same as koni, etc....

Oh awesome thanks! Gonna order the fronts from true choice and the rears from BC then. Now just to decide on 400 or 450 lb rear springs

I'm not revalving them, so I was going 500lb in the front. I heard the Koni or bilstein shocks can't handle rates much higher than that.

Hey, hope you can help me a bit. Right now I went with the 8 inch by 2.5 ID by 500lb Eibach spring with the koni sleeves up front, and no matter how I set it, it is at least 1 inch taller than stock height. I'm thinking of switching to a 6 or 7 inch spring, or did I probably do something wrong? Would really appreciate the help because this is becoming a huge pain.
