Default Carbotech Xp8 rears with Bobcats (1521) Fronts for daily driving??

I just got off the phone with Carbotech and they recommended, given my driving details (track once a month, daily driving 50 highway miles to work during week , brembo/ss lines/dot 4, hankook v12s), to go with Bobcat 1521 fronts and XP8 rears, then swap the front brakes to Xp10s at the track.

I just wanted to double-check with you guys, since I have never read of people using this combo, if you think going XP8 rears with the Bobcats fronts (much less bite I suppose) up front wouldn't be a bad idea (wouldn't it be dangerous to load the rear brakes like that?).

Should I go with bobcat rears instead and track with xp10 fronts and bobcat rears?

Thanks!

Me personally, I have XP12 front/XP10 rear and run them all the time. I do not daily drive my car but drive it on the street often (couple times a week). Yeah their noisy (only city driving, low speed stops), yeah they have a lot of dust, but I wash my car regularly and I am not worried about the noise. It will save you the effort of buying a second set of pads no matter which way you decided to go with the compounds in the front.

As for your question, under normal driving conditions on city streets you will not have an issue with either option you listed in your post, neither would be "dangerous".

I run, based on Carbotech recommendation, AX6 fronts and XP8 rear for street and Auto-X then switch the fronts to XP16 for the track. This seams to work very well and I have had no problems. They are dusty but I don't DD the car so I can live with it as Ii always wipe the car down when I get home.

I have run xp10/xp8 on the street. Actually I own and have used a set of 1521 too, but after using the xp10/xp8 on the track I didn't want to go back to pads with a lower initial bite. They do make some noise, but I really do prefer the feel and sheer stopping power of the xp10 and xp8.

Cool, thanks for the input guys.

Regarding the dusting from the ax6s, the rep actually said that the ax6s dust more than the xp8s suprisingly.

I changed all four wheels. It's a quick change... why not?

I will say swapping pads tends to work out better financially. The street pads have a much longer life than the XP pads so each will last longer for their given function

Hey guys, just wanted to give an update.

Have been driving with the xp8 rears and bobcat fronts for a few weeks now. Great for DD and spirited driving, no crazy brake bias.
Just order the XP10 fronts for the upcoming track day on july 20th. Looking forward to the new setup at the track!

Thanks for all of the inputs

i also run a street compound on my fronts and swap to race pads once i go to the track. the rears dont make really make noise but race pads on the front can get loud.

Yep, so ive done a track day with this setup, where I swapped the front with the xp10s.
the brembos are soooo easy to swap pads only its insane.
I kept the xp10s for 2 extra days of street driving and although it bites like no other, it is annoying loud and the dust is very bad, and harder to clean off the lips than other pad dust that I have dealt with.

With all that said, using the xp8s on rear its not bad at all, and doing the bobcat-xp10 swap is simple and effective! I recommend
