Could have been a lot uglier! I'm not a Summit regular, but I seem to recall there being a tire wall right there!!!!

Anyway, look forward to meting you and seeing the car at UTCC next month

Replaced the axle (had a reman in there) with a Nissan unit and drained a little fluid out of the diff after Monday's end of the day issues. Good news is that problem did not come back over the weekend. Also turned the codes off for the cruise, evap and something else I can't remember.

Overall ran DE3 on Sat and first session on Sun, then TT the second and a little of the 3rd session. Was hustling along to an easy 1:20 on cycled R7's, but went off the only chance I had to an open lap ending the weekend.

Next event is GRM UTCC at VIR. Need to figure how to keep the ABS from killing me, but no other major issues. Have some parts on the shelf to get me back to the power I need to be. I had issues getting by TTB/C cars on the main straight at Summit. Also need to finish the new front aero set-up. I ran the old BSP autocross aero again this weekend. It is draggy and probably doesn't offer much, if any, downforce.

The After....got lucky, except for flat spotting all 4 tires to the point they don't hold air:

Video from the car behind...can skip to 2:30ish when I come around:
S2000 TTB/TTC//Summit Point Raceway Main//1st Place//Nasa Mid-Atlantic//Apr 17-18 - YouTube
^^^ looked like the s2000 driver had a little bit of target fixation going on when you went off track, almost lost it... unless you blew a bunch of grease from you cv boot all over the track.

What trailer do you use to tow? Im on the market...

No grease...the boot tear was last week.

S2k driver is quite good. TTC National Champ. I just don't think he could see. The 360 challenge behind him said it was a total smoke out coming though.

It's just a 15' open Econotrailer. Cheap, steel and only weighs 1450lbs.

ABS really needs to be disabled on these cars. They work "fine", until they don't, then scary things can happen. There is a fairly easy way to reroute the stock lines comes from the MC for a non-ABS setup with a rear prop valve.

Glad to see you finally got the car up and running!

Update: UTCC in a couple of weeks and I've been "officially" accepted at this point.

ABS - It appears that there was a rear speed sensor failure, which is why the fronts locked up so much harder than the rears, which is unusual for these cars when the ABS fails. Considering we have had a slew of axles and diffs in there the past few weeks, it was probably my fault. Replaced the speed sensor and cleaned all the other sensors up. That said, I'm going to give the ABS one more shot at UTCC/Hyperfest as I won't have time or tires to try and dial in a prop valve set-up before that event.

Tires - Going to run 275/645 Pirelli's for UTCC. I got a sticker set on 10.5's. We'll see how they do. Also have a set of sticker 275/35 A7's for the hyperfest part of the weekend and if the Pirelli's require too much of a set-up change to work.

Power - PPE's are on and we tested a ton of different intake combos on the dyno yesterday. 74 dyno runs worth of testing to be exact. The car had been disappointingly down on power a few weeks ago after going back to gas. It only made 281-282, which was down 20-25whp from a few years ago on ethanol. When I ran the car at Summit, in concert with the wing, it was a DOG on the straights.

The PPE's seemed to be worth about 5whp over the old Tomei V2/2.5" Z1 test pipe set-up, which was a little lower than I had hoped, but it was through the whole powerband, which was nice. We tested a 3" intake (and maf), 3.5" intake (and maf), stock tb, nwp tb, rev-up plenum, non rev plenum and every combination of those we could to find what worked best.

Results (sorry not many pics)-just the ones I feel like posting .

3" Intake/stock TB/non rev plenum - 289whp
3" intake/nwp TB/non rev plenum - 291whp
3.5" intake/nwp TB/non rev plenum - 298whp
3.5" intake/nwp TB/rev up plenum - 300whp (but lost 15-18whp from 3k to 6k rpms, however it was up 20-25whp from 6500-7000)

A graph to illustrate the diff b/w the two plenums (graph is slightly off, redline is 7000 on the dyno):

In the end, since I generally shift the car around 6700-6800 vs the redline of 7100, I opted for the non rev plenum. Here is the gains vs the dyno earlier last month.

In the end I was REALLY hoping to find another 10whp, but it wasn't going to be. I'll probably pull a little or all of the wing out of it, so long as I can stay flat through the esses at VIR. Going to focus on getting another 30lbs out, but it will race at 10:1 if I'm lucky, but more than likely 10.2:1 for most of the year. Building the motor and/or carbon body work is not in the budget for 2016.

3.5" intake will need some work haha. Once I get it to fit, I'll build a box for it, get some outside flow, etc.

No. The maf was the same size as the intake in each of these tests.

Update:

Power:

3.5" Intake/nwp TB/Mrev2 - 300whp

ABS:
Turns out it was the ABS Pump/Module that failed completely. New solved the problem, though I did have one or two times it acted up at VIR last weekend. It was always predicated by me going two up over curbs, though. Hardly the cars fault.

Ultimate Track Car Challenge:
GRM was SUPER tardy getting invites out, which resulted in a pretty small field (~3x cars). A lot of people wanted to go, but 10 days is not enough notice for anyone further than 10 hours away that wasn't planning to already be there for Hyperfest to make it.

Ran a 2:06.8, but it was pretty difficult sledding with no top end speed and surprising amount of traffic for a smallish group.

I ran on new Pirelli DH's, which are not at all a good TT compound. They take 6-7 laps to come up to temperature and we rarely got more than 7 laps. All 11 sessions from the weekend my fastest lap was the last one before the checker or black flag. No bueno.

Hyperfest:

At the time TTU only had 4 entries, so I bailed on TT3 to make a class for those guys...which also meant I could be lazy and not change the tires. There ended up being 10 in TTU by Sunday :/. Rained hard Fri night, so I slept in and kept the car in the garage until our first session after lunch. Worked fine, but Saturday was a day of not one clean lap (40+ TT cars). Sunday was better, but the weather for the afternoon looked and was ****. I ran the first two sessions and packed up. Best lap was a 2:06.7 on 11 cycle pirelli's at that point.

Issues:
Straight line speed. I am getting massacred by the other TT3 cars in a straight line.

Farmer - low 150's
E92 - ~low 150's (at least)
Other Z (Savanna) - 146
Thai (Evo) - 142
Me - 137

This is a big problem at VIR with two long straights. Need to really make the car more slippery and get weight out. I'm done trying to make power for this year I think.

Overall, with the exception of the straights I feel the car may have been the strongest in the brake zones and corners of the TT3 field, which is great. I fully expect it to compete and perhaps break the track record at Summit in the fall (maybe 17's?).

Very good showing at UTCC! Are you still running Stoptech/Brembo brakes?

I'm running the OEM Track Brembo brakes (with cooling ducts, stainless lines and Carbotech pads) in a fully prepped TT2 350Z (400whp/3265lbs with me), and I'm starting to experience quite a bit of lock-up now that we switched from R888s to Hoosier A7s a few months ago.

Yes w/ 2 piece rotors and ST43/42 pad combo. Believe it or not, my brakes are not ducted and I have never faded them or boiled the PFC665 Fluid.

I fully expect to go 2:02-2:03's in the late fall. I'll be happy with 2:05's in August when it WILL be 105 degrees.

I'm already a tad gunshy on brakes on my stock car with the brembos. I cooked the brakes in two sessions at a HPDE. Although I'm leaning towards it being a problem with a leaking bleeder only when they got hot enough. It's good to hear someone having success with them.

I'm not a fan of their compromise pads IE HP+ and HPS, but the DTC-60s have done me well in other applications. They work great on my 240sx with Willwood Super Lite Calipers. They are rated up to 1600*.

I may switch to some Motul RBF 600 fluid. I haven't heard anything but rave reviews on it.

Not running Wilwood pads, the price and performance is great on them. Poly B is what I run

I use Raybestos only at this point. I can do an easy 8-10 track days on a set of fronts and more if I'm only doing TT. In fact, strictly TT I'm pretty sure I could go a full season up front and two out back without changing pads.

The Motul RBF600 is good.
No need for the 660, if your boiling 600 you have other issues to worry about.

We've tried alot of different compounds
Currently the best we have found is the ferrodo DSuno. Takes high temps, very consistent across the temp range and easier to control than other pads.
We are going to try the very similar DS1.1 at our next test.
