Default Esp g35?

I have one mod that puts me in SP (MREV2), also have some DOT-R's I can use which would put me there. Perusing SCCA regs (appendix A), I see that SP for Z's appears to have some significant competition- I can see why a Z wouldn't want to go there. While G's and Z's share the same category for ST, for some reason G's get bumped to ESP, which, at least to my limited knowledge, seems populated by cars far less formidable than BSP. I'm not currently all that concerned about maximizing my "win" potential within a particular class, but that might change in the near future, so I'm wondering if I should I yank the MREV to get into STU? Given the car/class breakdown, almost suspect I'd be more competitive in (the relative wasteland of) ESP than STU, despite my car's minimal level of "prep", particularly at the local level. Please set me straight if I'm delusional...

Doesn't ESP include camaros, mustangs and WRX's?. I would consider the WRX a true contender and would outclass a G. Hell even the V8 pony cars will give you a run for the money.

WRXs, no! Camaros and Mustangs, yes. Not trying to say there's NO competition there for a G, but STU includes M3, 135i, C5 vettes, Evo, and STI. What I'm hypothesizing is these cars in STU would be much stiffer competition than the ponies in ESP, even if they're more prepped than I am.

I've driven an ESP..... GT500 many times. It's a really fun class! Ignoring the fact or the alien driver, a G35 won a day of Prosolo in ESP at Wilmington this year... http://cdn.growassets.net/user_files...pdf?1438612238

Tom was in the same GT500 I've driven at the beginning of day one. Well..... it caught fire and was down for the rest of the weekend. So I suppose PJ was nice enough to let Tom drive the G35 as well, lol.

Next year in ESP my money is on Jadrice in his 2016 Mustang. I've been watching him drive it in FS locally..... that thing is crazy fast for what it is.

In fairness the G35 was MEGA broken that weekend. Pretty sure both Tom and I ran faster than his GT500 times in the challenges with the G35. I never even sat in the seat until Sunday Morning.

Right now the G35 is an OVERDOG in tour format, but only until some builds an E92M....then it is game over.

Just begun trying to decipher SCCA solo vehicle classification scheme, so please pardon me if I'm missing something obvious, but your comment has me confused. How would the G35 be an overdog in "tour"? I believe G35 is STU in touring (populated by many cars that might typically outperform a G).

It's faster over a 60s tour course than the pony cars, even not equally prepped. At a Pro Solo the Pony cars get a big gap in the first 200', but it ends up pretty even at the end of 30-35s. Most of the cars in STU end up in ASP/BSP, so keep that in mind. It doesn't have a chance in STU IMO.
