Haven't been here in awhile but throwing this out to the motorsports community.

I haven’t been able to find the source of this problem (see video). The car lost power at full throttle on the track and I haven’t been able to start it since. I’ve been through everything recommended when looking at a non-start condition but can’t find any problems.

There are no codes
No blown fuses
Relays all work
I’ve check the following for power, ground, continuity and resistance where applicable:
Crank sensor (even swapped it to a back up I have)
Throttle pedal and body (even swapped the nvp throttle body to the old body) - throttle learn procedure actuates the throttle. Cipher confirms the pedal position is being indicated
Injectors
Coils
Plugs seem to have spark
Fuel pressure and pump
Cylinder wash down from excess fuel

From the video it looks like the car loses power and the throttle won’t read. But eventually it stall and won’t restart.

On restart attempts it seems to over fuel. Occasionally I get one or two ignition events as the starter cranks but it never catches. As a result I think it might be ignition related but I can’t find the reason as I’ve checked everything.

Wondering if it might be a solid state problem with the IPDM or ecu issue but I can read the ecu with cipher.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The 350Z used both the flywheel and the cam sensor (rpm and sync/trigger) - need to check the cam sensors

Check the ignition is firing at the right time with a timing light

(does the car still have an immobilizer?)

 

From the vid, I agree with MartinZ that it could be cam position sensor failure. But that should result in a code showing up on Cipher. Symptoms are similar to a CPS failure I suffered at Gateway International back in '13.

 

I'm using UpRev for tuning. Immobilizer is deleted.

We have the exhaust cam deleted with the JWT kit (its an revup engine) and I'm getting the exhaust cam code for bank 1 and 2 but I'm virtually certain the code was programed to be ignored. The engine has been run several times at the track with the code.

I'll double check with the tuner about the code.

 

My vote is also for cam position sensor. For some strange reason, mine did not throw a code either!!!!

 

The sync comes off the inlet cam

You have evidence of fuel but it won't start
So go old school and check the ignition with a timing light
