Default 350Z Automatic Race Car? Auto Drivers Chime in (Champ/Chump Car)

hey Guys,
I am interested in building a 350z for Champ Car formerly Chump Car.
The issue is to fit inside the Rules the car will have to be auto inside the rules.
I would put a hug cooler on it but will it be able to last the endurance race?
Also For those that have an auto track car, how do you guys like it and how are the shifts?

Please explain why the automatic tranny is required to fit into champ/chumpcar rules? Seems a waste to run anything but the excellent 6-speed box in any form of road racing. Most of my students who had auto Z33s had severe overheating within 25 minutes of being on the track.

Probably won't be good for endurance. I drive an auto with a cooler, fan, and a shift kit. Shifts great but it does over-heat as mentioned above. Usually within 15-20 minutes depending on the outside temperature. Hoping a deeper pan will help me out.

Please point to where it stipulates slushomatics are REQUIRED fare. I just went through all of of the ChumpCar rules and can find NOTHING regarding using a lazybox in a RACE car.

While Not required Champ has a Points Based system. With the Auto car being 450 and the Manual at 525. Since its over 500 points it will start with a 3 lap Penalty ( every 10 points is one lap) and 6 laps in a 24 hour race.

Which cooler do you have? Also do you shift electro-manually?

B&M 11x7 inches. And of course, if I baby it and shift gears early and don't down shift too aggressively it won't over heat. But that's slow and not very much fun.

Ahh, so you want to try and actually WIN versus just finish. Hahahaha. But cool, ChampNeeChumpCar, LeMons.... cool way to race on a budget.

Let's look big picture.

03 to 05 Z in stick as we don't know if the auto will finish a race.
You will want an oil cooler, more points
you will need 06 or OEM brembo brakes
differential cooler could be a problem. I bet you will smoke the pinion bearing every 24 hour event, hopefully not earlier.
Front camber arms are almost a must, just for tire wear concerns.
shift at no more that 5500 rpm to not kill the MPG, basically drive with the torque.
Power Steering cooler is needed to survive

is this really the car you want for this series
