Hi,

So I got my seats in...sparco circuit and circuit II. I still need to purchase side and base mounts. I plan on a 6-point harness with a kirk racing roll bar in place; shoulder straps will tie to the harness bar. I'm not planning on stripping the interior. I wanted to get a rough idea of where to drill for the other harness straps.

oh and I'll be using sparco sliders too.

Hopefully, your shoulder harness will fit at a 90 degree angle from the harness bar to the seat. Otherwise, the straps could bind and cause a spiral spinal fracture. As for the waist belts, use the threaded holes the OEM seatbelt went to. Get new grade 8 hardware and bolt the harness end in securely. I assume you know how to properly wrap the harness ends to a mount.

Rather than tie the two sub belts to the floor (and drill more useless holes), try to mount them to your seat mounts and again, tie the sub belt ends around the harness mount.

You will need to drill into the trans tunnel for the inside belt mounts, then weld in the proper sized doubler plates.

Sub straps, those are fun, there have been many different ways documented. I drilled into my floor and welded in the proper doubling plates

Hi,

Thanks for all of the great info. No, I do not know yet how to wrap the harness ends, but I'll figure it out. Yes I have plans for a HANS.

I had never considered mounting the sub belts to the seat mounts, great idea!!...the less holes to drill the better.

I'm looking at the schroth profi III 6-point harness. Which to select? pull up or down? I have to research more into the different styles.

Here's my 0.02 on the harness question: for shoulder harnesses, I like pull downs, as it's easier to get a quick grip on them to snug them up. For lap belts, I like pull ups, as again, it's easier ergonomically to pull straight up to tighten. I particularly like the belt adjusters on my Inpact Racing camlock harness, it's quick and precise to adjust and you can get the belt length correct in short order. They also reweb and recertify their harnesses when they go out-of-date, which many belt makers can't do since they're built overseas. Here's their FAQ for you to consider:

As for the controversy with all the head-neck restraints, my reasoning to go with the HANS device is its the only one certified by the FIA, is readily available and serviced locally from one of our race vendors.
