Default help on harness install

I am installing a six point set of harnesses in my Z. I have the G Force Eye bolts for my snap in hardware for the crotch belts and the inside lap belts. The shoulder straps will go on the roll bar.

But how do I install the door side lap belt with the clip on hardware? Where does the eye bolt go and how can I attach it to the car?

It has been suggested to use the existing seat belt threaded bolt hole by getting a 40mm eye bolt the same MM as the OEM bolt (hex head). Well, a 12 or 13 mm eye bolt x 40mm lenght is not easy to come by. I have some e-mails out to the metric bolt world for some help, but nothing yet. Is the OEM bolt holding the door side belt a 12mm or 13mm?? A 1/2 standard bolt will not screw into the welded in place threaded hole.

I could just install a new eye hook just for the outside lap belts, but there seems to be no access to the outside wall to mount the eye bolt. I even tried to take off the lower skirt to see if it exposed a way to mount a new eye bolt. No go.

Any advice on how to mount the outsdie lap belt with a clip in hardware?? Got a simple solution??

Tom, I had the same problem. I got 2) 7/16-20, 1 1/2" thread length eye bolts from Pegasus (800-688-6946). Part #2384. They thread in fine. I also picked up 2 jam nuts. This allowed me to maintain the stock lap/shoulder belt. I needed to buy a thin 11/16 open end wrench to tighten. Got that at Sears. I'll take pix later and post.

Wow - Thanks EZ - You are a life saver!

I thought I was going to have to get on a cheap flight to New Zealand to get special bolts for a world famous sail boat racing custom bolt maker in a grass shack (bossunsseat.com) on the beach.

Phew! Saved me the trip. I have already chatted with the good folks at Pegasus Racing and the bolts are on the way. Thanks so much for the wonderful help!! Going to see you at the Putnam DE in June sponsored by the St Loius Lotus Club?. Will be a few Z there. Take care.

Would still love to see the pics of your install.

Glad I could help. Sorry you had to cancel that trip to New Zealand. That's the one place I would LOVE to visit!

I doubt I'll make the June Lotus event at Putnam. It's sold out. But I'll be at Blackhawk with the Lotus Corps May 17. And I'll probably go back to Mid-Ohio 8/21-23.

Almost forgot, PIX:

I have the touring and the inner belt is mounted to seat frame. So the Enthusiast has it's inner belt mounted to the center counsel side. I will look for this bolt hole. It must still be there.

Sorry for the confusion. Only the outer bolts were replaced with the longer eye bolts. I drilled holes in the transmission tunnel for the inner eye bolts. I used the short eye bolts and nylock nuts that came with my Schroth belts.

I do not recommend using the seat track mounting points for any belt attachment. Some racing organizations require them to be separate.

Default Found a simple Alternate

I fabricated a angle bracket that bolts to the inner rear seat mounting bracket. It is a right angle thenI put an Eye bolt that the sub-belt and lap belt clip to. I put an eye bolt in the outside seat belt mounting next to the seat bracket. This is where the subbelt and lap belt clips to on the outside. I used this setup this past day at Thunderhill and it works very well. I lastly run the seat up to tighten the belt and set my driving position.
