I'll keep an eye on it, but that was one of the reasons we decided this was the perfect pressure -- it was rolling just slightly down the rounded edge, to the precise line where we wanted it. With the higher pressures, we weren't even using the sidewall.
But thanks for the warning. This was my first weekend with them, so I still have a lot more experimentation to do.
I don't know if this makes a difference, but I have one of the stiffer sets of anti-roll bars out there, the Cuscos. Maybe I'm loading the tires more evenly than others? Other than the sways, my suspension is stock (until I get the Koni shocks and Ti2000 springs installed!)

Buub,
Prior to using a pyrometer, I was running lower pressures... after using the pyro and listening to Glenn's advice, I bumped up the pressures until I ended up with a four degree spread... that happened at 63 lbs up front... scary isn't it? I balanced out the rear with a six pound differential. I didn't want to admit to how much pressure I'm running... but I'd hate to see you end up with the "groove of doom" syndrome from running too low a pressures. I made the mistake of running the wrong pressures in my first set of A/X tires (circa '91), and I wish someone had helped me out. I'm running "A" compound, but I'm still thinking 40 is way too low.

Thanks BC. I'll have to keep playing with it this weekend to see what happens. Maybe the correct pressure for maximum performance is different than the correct pressure for prolonged life.
DmitryZ, the tire looks perfect on the wheel, actually. It probably hangs out 1/2 to 3/4" from the rim, but it looks like it was made to do that. I'll try to remember to snap some pix this weekend when I have them on the car again.

Thanks for the info guys. I started autoxing last year and I am still on RE040 tires which are starting to look... um... intersting.
BC - how fast is the wear rate on the Hoosiers i.e. how many events/heat cycles before the rubber gets shot?
thanks,
Dmitry

I have 30 runs on my AS304s, they are still looking good... I haven't measured the "tread" depth, but it looks to be a third used. Compound wise, I couldn't say... they don't feel like they've lost anything yet. The weather up here hasn't been too wonderful on raceday... and temperature makes dramatic differences in their performance... the event with the highest temperature netted a first place... the other events have been cool... and netted third first place finishes.
This is my first season of A/X after a long departure (1992), so I'll see how far the Hoosiers take me into a season... I'm hoping they last just this season and toss 'em.
