Question Do you need a SCCA membership to run Solo2?

There is an event this Sunday, and i was planning on trying this out for the first time. Registration is full, but I heard that if I get there early, there is a good chance I'll get in due to no shows. Do i need a membership? Or does not having one mean that I just have to pay more for day? I just don't want to show up for nothing. Thanks.

Depends on your region. Our region here is a club in itself so I pay membership dues to the club though it is encouraged to get a full SCCA membership especially if you intend on driving at nationals. Ask your region membership chair.

If membership isn't required, more often than not the fee to drive will be higher. We allow non-members but it costs $35 to drive whereas members pay $25.

Usually non-members just pay more at registration.
Some site may have restriction on number of cars.
Some clubs do pre-register.
It all depends on your local region.

www.scca.org should provide a link to your local SCCA and they will post whether a license is required for Solo2. The San Francisco region requires a license. (and they don't sell them at the events.)

Like the rest of the guys said, it varies by region. Here in St. Louis we charge non-SCCA $30 while SCCA members pay $20.

All around great lakes it's $5 more fon non-members... If I go 10 a year, I'll save $50 if SCCA member... but membership costs more than 50, right? So I don't see no reason to join.

Many times Club memebers get first Priority when registering. Many of our local events are sell outs, so non-members don't always get a chance to run.
