Need Advice: Tirerack special --- Dunlop Super Sport Race R Compound
Hi all,
Tirerack is doing an introduction special on the Dunlop R-Compounds, however, they don't come with the sizes for our stock wheels ( I have the track model) , as I am planning to buy a set of these and put them on the stock track rims.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes....per+Sport+Race
Would any of those sizes still fit ok? If so, what would that size be? I'd prefer to keep front and back the same width to reduce some of that understeering.
I know some of you have alot of experience in choosing the right tires, so I hope I can get some advice from you guys.

I've done some calculation:
Dunlop R:
225/40/18 = 25.09'
245/35/18 = 24.75'
255/35/18 = 25.03'
265/35/18 = 25.30'
285/35/18 = 25.85'
Stock
225/45/18 = 25.97
245/45/18 = 26.68
If I go with 245/35/18 F and 265/35/18 R , that is at around 95% of the stock diameter, will I still be okay with that 5 % variation?

I assume you're worried about the VDC/ABS situation?
Most people would turn VDC off on the track so nothing to worry about there. For ABS the stagger looks good. Quite a few people run the same size fr and rr and it works well on the track.
Those 245/40/17s look good to me for $120

I would recommend 245/35-18 all around. Dial out some understeer, plus get a little final drive ratio advantage with a smaller diameter tire, and be able to rotate them for longevity. I run 275/40-17s all around on my race wheels, but at these prices, might have to go to 245s!

I run 265/35R18s all around on my Touring 6MT(same sizes as Track) rims and it works out very well. I orient them factory style for track events and put the 8.5s on the front for Auto-X.
