Just a quick note...

Those of you who are registered for the event, don't forget about the banquet Saturday night. We do need an RSVP, we've set it up on MyAutoEvents.com HERE

Marty can explain the details, but this will be held only a few blocks from the host hotel in Danville - buffet style food with a cash bar. The banquet is included in your entry fee, guests are $20 (purchased thru MyAutoEvents).

Last year we had close to 125 people show up for this, so get your RSVP in ASAP. There are no additional charges to RSVP thru MyAutoEvents, but if you would rather, please send Mark Vitacco an email stating you will be attending. If we do not hear from you, we can only assume you will not be attending the banquet.

Thanks!!
Stacy

Best choice for HPDE events

So I am still looking for a helmet and I was thinking about picking up the one mentioned above, except it doesn't have a face shield. Is that really going to make a difference? Its probably a matter of personal preference, but I'd be glad to hear what you guys think. Is there a reason to go with the one listed above over this one?

Sorry to seem so clueless, but I'd like to get a helmet that is a decent one without breaking the bank (isn't that everyone's goal?) since I'm not sure how many more times I'll be able to hit the track.

Thanks,

-andy

Andy... the main reason not to get the one you linked to is that it is not SA rated. The M rated helmets will be accepted for this year's events, but starting Jan 1, 2006 we will ONLY accept Snell SA rated helmets. The face shield mostly comes down to personal preference. For HPDE events, many prefer the open face design as it is less bulky and allows much easier access for two-way communicators with most instructors will be using. Obviously a full face helmet will provide greater protection though.
I've listed two excellent helmets below, the first is an open face SA2000 for $149, the second is a hybrid design full face with a visor but not a shield for $199

i posted this before but i really think im gonna get this you might want to take a look at it too

it is SA 2000

and a good price

I saw those and they looked temping, but I wear closer to a 7 3/8 so I'm probably looking at a Large or maybe XL. I tried on an XL Bell Sport 2 that a friend of mine has and it seemed to be almost perfect.

I was looking at the ones you were talking about last night and I would have bought one, but they are only Small or Medium so that's no good for me. There is this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...949207601&rd=1

but I'm not really sure how good those helmets are. I'm sure they are just as good as any other. I did find them being sold here too:

http://www.soloracer.com/pyrofullfacesa.html

I was looking back at racerwholesale and the Bell Sport 3 looks pretty nice. As do the ones that Stacy recommended. I spend several hours last night trying to decide between the G-Force Pro Force Hybrid ($200), Pro Force 1 ($250), Bell SR Pro ($250), Bell Sport 3 ($300), or maybe the Bell M2 ($300) and I have yet to come up with any good reason to buy one over another. I can't imagine that I really want a helmet with a face shield, but I wonder about resale as much as anything else (is it more attractive to others?). I'll try and decide by Monday so I can get it this week though.

I really appreciate all the tips and advice from all you guys.

Stacy / Marty:

Do you all allow numbers to be displayed on the upper corner of the windshield and rear window instead of on the side? I'd rather use vinyl numbers than magnets if possible. And if I'm going to leave them on for two weekends in a row, I'd rather not have them on the side...

The Numbers are for the Corner workers to identify the car, being on the side is better.

I'll let Stacy quote the official ruling..

John... I think as long as they are clearly visible, front and rear should be fine. We'll have some vinyl that may fit in the 3/4 window if necessary, but as long as the corner workers can see the numbers with you coming and going, it shouldn't be a problem.

Damn I am ready for this to be here. Now, if we can just order up some sunny weather with temps around 55 we will be set.

Sorry... no M90s are too old for our specifications. Are you on any of the corvette forums? There are a bunch coming to the event, maybe someone's got an older M95 or SA95 you can borrow for this event?

Here's another update for those interested:

Datsun/Nissan: 26 cars (12 240z-280z, 1 Z31, 3 Z32, 6 350Z, 2 510, 2 SE-R, 1 G35)

Corevette: 25 cars (20 + 5 Z06s)

M3/3-series: 30 cars

2 Ferraris, 2 Maseratis (possibly one of the grand-am cars, definately one of the Grand-Am Maserati drivers), 1 Coutach, a few 996 cup cars as well. There are a bunch of others... over 170 registered including instructors.

Oh yeah... the event is full BTW!!

Which GT Maserati is going to be there? The white one or the dark blue one? (I'm assuming that these are the Ferrari of Washington cars - the dealership is just around the corner from me)
