Smile New Z on its way

OK, I've finally decided to join you all and ordered an '05 Track model Z in Ultra Yellow.

Now I just need to figure out what tires to get. I'm used to a car setup that is neutral-to-loose, so I'm figuring that I'm going to have some fun.

I plan to run in the "new" B Stock, and get a separate set of rims for street use, and use the Rays for race rubber.

The Z is getting popular! I think BS is going to be more competitive this year than last (Nationals), not because of the cars, but A LOT of nationals winning drivers are moving to BS in 968s and RX8s. This year's gonna be fun! Any word on when you'll actually get the car?

Well, the track model won't be available until January, so I'm figuring that it will be late January or early February, although if I get a call on January 2nd, I wouldn't turn it down. ;-)

I think that the dominance of the S2000 in BS pretty much doomed anything else, regardless of whether it was better or not. Nobody wanted to risk failing when they could just get an S2K, put the "go fast" suspension settings on, and simply be competitive. I know that if they hadn't moved the S2000s, I probably would have stayed with the SpecV in DS (or wherever it ends up).

Welcome to B Stock in Portland! I've run my Le Mans Sunset Enthusiast Model there most of this last summer with number 77. It'll be nice to have another 350 Z to run with. See you at the track next spring!

Yup, I've been watching you and your car as much as I've been able to. I wanted to ask for a ride, but it seems like we've always been in opposite run groups.

I am looking forward to getting the Z, but at the same time I'm going to miss the SpecV.

(BTW, your custom plate is great!)

Why not keep both?

I sure hope the 13hp bump and increased revs really help the Z. Keep us posted on your results.

Michael.

I'd love to keep both, the SpecV is just a kick to drive, especially with the Konis and Nismo FSB! It's one of the few FWD cars that I've driven that you can actually "dirt track" through corners.

However, I have a friend who is very interested in the SpecV, and he has agreed at this point to "visitation privileges" so it's not like I'm going to go "cold turkey" from monster FWD torque (with very little torque steer now).

I'm excited about driving a RWD car again, and especially about the Z. It seems like there are very few cars that I could be passionate about any more. The SpecV has been one, and I'm really looking forward to the Z!

Now to find 18" tires, but at least the RX-8 crowd is in the same boat.

kumho 710's will be available in 285/30/18 in april. I sure you could squeeze that on on there with some 5mm spacers in front.

I wonder if the 05 track will have a big advantage with the new engine.

If my son races again, he may ask YOU for a ride!

Thanks! CJIMGO was my Miata plate and all my ideas for Z plates were already taken. I was happy to keep my CJIMGO. People smile when they see it. Though I have had complete strangers call out my name as if they knew me.
