wow i read this whole thread and got so excited i ordered myself a pair. hopefully i can install these with no probem when it comes in.

 

Hey guys. New Z member here. I installed the momo ebrake handle and momo universal boot as instructed. It came out nice! Thanks for the write up.

I just had a concern about the ebrake being in the 'released/drive' position. With the boot on, I notice when I drop the ebrake, I have to push it down a little because the boot is so thick. Do you guys experience this? Should I cut the boot down from the top?

That really turned out nice. I just replaced my shift **** as my old one was falling apart. This looks like the perfect complement to a new shift ****. Good writeup!

 

Nice write up. i just saw this online at a different site that you are on. Definitly gonna try this out. I don't care about the none reverseable to the stock shifter. THis car gets sold when I am 6ft under.

Hey does anyone know how to remove the rubber piece surrounding the base of the handbrake, without damaging it? The boot i have is a little large and i needa somehow fit it in there...

It should just pop off. Use a butter knife to start the process.

A couple of people PM'ed me about how to do handbrake replacement.. so I thought I'd bump this old DIY thread..

 

Is it possible to get the pics back in the very first post? I have a Momo Pit Stop Steel Handbrake that I got gifted for my Bday and would like to install it. Although I have a shift boot, don't think that would fit would it? So I would need to get a handbrake booth then, right? What's Hand Brake Adapter thing I need to get, and where can I get that from?

I didn't want a handle with a big Momo label on it, so I installed an Isotta leather handbrake handle, and some Alcantara (suede) boots. The shift **** is a Momo, though, but it doesn't have any markings:





The **** and handle came from "crowderscustomizing", and the boots came from "the-tuning-shop-team", both eBay vendors.

 

so the redline boot hole will be too small? we have to cut it more? anyone know where the pics went on original post?

Hey i was just wondering where you found that e brake handle have been looking everywhere for a light blue color one with zero luck

If you're asking about mine,The Isotta handle installs with 4 hidden setscrews, so no adapters are needed. But, I did have to grind down two of the screws because they were too long (a few seconds work on a bench grinder, or a few minutes if you only have a hand file). The shift **** is from Momo, on a Nismo adjustable short shift lever.

 

The handle is from Isotta. The leather is glued in place, with a seam along the bottom. A good upholstery shop may be able to supply you with the leather color you want, but such a small piece might be $$$, unless you had your seats done and have a scrap left over. You could also refinish the leather with a paint/dye. Lots of products available, do a google search, but SEM brand is what pro's use.
