Ok, update on the DIY:
You DON"T have to take off that crazy annoying plastic clip you need to turn 90 degrees!!!!
I took my bumper off two weeks ago and I tried for 30 minutes to get the clips out without success. I asked some people from a bodyshop nearby and they said that the clip is the same as one you would find inside the trim of a cars door. Which means you can just pull it right off.
So I continued to take everything else off, skipping part 3#. The bumper came right off as you can just pull the bumper backwards and the clip will unhook very easily.
So trust me on this one. Skip part #3 and you'll have your bumper off in less than 20 minutes!!!!!!!

To the OP, GREAT DIY thread, very easy instructions, informative pictures.
Sorry for bumping an old thread but i used this DIY to remove my rear bumper this weekend, and it worked great.
Only thing i would add, is for folks with the mudguard, dont forget to remove it to get to a 10mm bolt below it. It was obvious to me while undoingg it, but looking back at the DIY, for some folks, they might miss it.
And dont forget to have a socket extension handy.
Again, thanks a ton OP.

that plastic fastener thing that you mentioned can get pulled off instead of using the 7mm, can't. At least on the 06 if it's different. Snapped off both of them doing the un-install. Maybe I'm just retarded though...

Does anyoneknow if i can get to the reverse lights without unbolting the bolt on each side of the bottom of the bumper? My Nismo sides cover up the bottom most bolts, and i just need to get in to replace my drviers side reverse light, not just the bolts, but the whole light. THanks

OP, excellent thread
IMPORTANT: There is no such thing as an "automatically unlocking" white clip. OP is exactly right, they do need to be turned 90 degrees to unlock. I removed my rear bumper last night and after removing all other screws and clips, tugged and pulled at those clips to no avail. When you do remove them, you will see why; unless the clip is aligned with the rectangular hole, there is no way it is coming out. Mathys, I think you got lucky there; perhaps they had both moved to an almost unlocked position from normal driving.
That said, they are hard to remove but not impossibly so. I missed OP's post about using a 10mm socket and did it an alternate way. Took a pair of pliers and stuck my whole hand into the hole left by the taillight (just enough room even for my giant hands). Then with the pliers facing up, I had just enough leverage to turn the clips. Good thing they don't require a lot of force. But yes, DO use a 10mm socket to turn them and you will have them out in a few seconds.
