Default HOW TO: remove rear wiper

I decided to take off my rear wiper since I hardly ever use it, plus it breaks up the flow of the hatch. I bought a metal hole plug from Lowe's along with a 1" bolt. My plan was to use superglue, but that ended up not working.

When the superglue failed I decided to use JB Weld, 2500psi. I also cut the threaded end off of an eye bolt to use in the installation.

To remove the wiper, lift up on this cap. After you remove this nut you should be able to pull up on the blade.

My blade would not budge after removing the nut. I thought it might need to be turned counter clockwise to loosen it, but that's when the shaft snapped off!

After removing the plasic cover from the hatch, you will see the motor. Remove the three bolts and unplug the white harness.

As you can see in this pic of the seal, when the top of the seal is flattened, the bottom bulges below the edges. This is why the eye of the eyebolt is needed to space the washer down.

Here is the installed eye wedged between the seal and washer.

Finished product! The cap is painted and installed, it just needs to be waxed.

Last shot, close up. The whole rear end of the car seems to be much smoother and attractive without the wiper!

Questions/comments welcome!
