Default 06 Interior - Center tunnel

Hi,
I've done some research but to no avail. I wanted to remove my interior central tunnel to refresh it a bit and add smear to the little cubby with slid door because it squeaks like crazy. I've managed to lift it up a bit but it gets stuck on handbrake ****. Did anyone manage to remove this tunnel without removing handbrake or the insides of central console?

I may be reading your issue wrong, but did you remove the 2 bolts(one on each side)? You have to slide the seats forward to access the bolts. I removed mine(although an 04) with no issues other than having to disconnect a harness.

+1, they were large Phillips head screws on my '08.

Yeah, they're both removed. I can move the tunnel freely but I can't remove it completely because handbrake is there and restricts movement

Did you pull the handbrake up? I haven't done this for 5 years, but I may have had to do that.

You know. I'm gonna mess around a bit and if this won't work, I'll spray a teflon smear here and there. Oh well.

I've started to tear apart the dash. But unfortunately, according to FSM, the huge plastic piece restricting movement has to come out as a WHOLE DASH. Unfortunately, thats way to much work for me. Did anyone manage to remove handbrakr handle from inside of the car? Jesus, this center tunnel squeaks like a bunch of rats.

I've been wondering. Maybe my HB is adjusted so the pull lenght is small therefore the angle is also really small. Please, if anyone did that removal, help me because this car can't stay with bare interior forever. Thanks

I pulled mine out a few times. After removing both rear and front bolts lift the front and slide gradually and up towards the front. Get a helper to hold the handbrake up tight. Remember there are wires connected under it to the switches

I know, I tried many times but the handbrake is blocking it. That's why I asked if it's possible that the handbrake was somehow adjusted to engage much lower or is the movement somehow restricted? Can I disassemble the handbrake handle? How can I do it? How can I adjust it(I guess adjusting needs working under the car?)
