How much did the dealer charge u to replace the pads and turn the rotor.
Mine start to squeel now, and I just bought the car last wk .
Would they change it for u even if u provide ur own pads?

I think it was like $280 pads, rotors turned and labor

Only the fronts, mine were squeaking for about two months, but due to the snow i haven't really driven that much. I needed an inspection and oil change so i had it done all at once.

I tend to be mechanically challenged, but more for a lack of proper tools I think

The dealer wanted $120 just for the labor on the rears! What a rip off! Went to a private shop and charged me only $40. I bought the Hawks which cost $55. Saw those guys put it on and it was a simple job.

At the dealership I work for it is $295 for front brakes on any car and $285 for rear brakes. That is for stock pads and turning the rotors.

Ouch!! It takes me less than an hour to replace all of my brake pads! That's in my garage without air tools. I need to start replacing brake pads for people.... BTW my pads lasted 5k miles so don't feel too bad about 26k.

Yeah, brakes can be expensive at a dealership, but I have to pay the same tech that i trained to solve your more complicated issues to do your brakes as well. An experienced and trained master tech is not a cheap commodity. I also have to cover the overhead for things like brake lathes which are surprisingly expensive. Turning the rotors is what adds time to the job.

Does this really seem normal, having to replace your brakes so quickly?

I had a celica GTS 2000 and put 35000 before i traded to get the Z and no problems.

Are other sports cars like this or what??

Not all of us ride the car hard all of the time like others on the boards. If I tracked it or something I could understand, but this seems premature to me

I think it mostly depends on how you use the car and your driving style. I am needing new front pads at 51,000 miles on the Z. That 51,000 miles was daily commuting to and from work (60 miles/day) plus vacation trips coast to coast, and five track days.
