New Stoptech rotors = wash them right?
I just got my new stoptech rotors, I am pretty sure I read here that you are supposed to wash them prior to use. If my memory serves me right it mentioned to use soapy water (dish soap?) and not brake cleaner. Is that right?
Is there any other prep work before I install them?

Yep, soap and water with like a Scotch Guard pad or something with more roughness then just a sponge. You will know you did it right when they dry and start rusting a little.
Or you can do what I did and go out and break in a new set of pads. The oil finish the Stoptechs came with provided for an impressive smoke display when I bedded in the new pads and rotors...

You are supposed to remove the anti-rust coating from the rotors PRIOR to bedding in the pads. Making the pads remove the coating has a chance that they won't bed properly. Stoptech says clearly to wash the rotors in both install manuals and on a couple special sheets of paper included with the kit. They are serious about removing the coating before bedding in the pads.
Yes, ideal is to wash the rotors with soap and water before install. You can use a rag or a scotch brite pad. There's a thin film of protectorant on them to prevent rust when sitting on our shelf. Wash them off, and bed them in according to these guidelines:
