Default Advise on Suspention and Brakes

I was looking at upgrading my Suspention to the JIC A2, I will be going to the Track a few times a year, and this car is not a daily driver, do you think the JICs will be good for the track and not kill me on regular roads?

Brakes, I was going to get the AP Racing 6 pistion brake kit, is it worth the money over the 4 piston? 6 = $2600 and 4 = $1700 and the StopTech's are $2500 for the 4 pot. What would you get?

Any help would be great.

I'm real happy with my AP racing BBK. I have the 6 piston front 4 piston rear, and would do this setup again. The only thing you should know is expect some brake squeal. Nothing horrible, but with the windows down they do make a little noise. The brakes feel very firm compaired to stock. Very little pedal travel, but you'll get used to it and like it.

Default Go with brakes

If it comes down to either a suspension or brakes on the Z for a dual use track/street car, you'll be happier with the brakes. I'm not saying that because I work for a brake manufacturer...I'm saying it because the brakes will be the first thing that fail you on the 350Z under track conditions. You will inevitably overheat them as your skill improves, and you won't have much fun out there. The car will understeer a bit with the stock suspension, but it won't end your day. Faded brakes will. As a first step, try some good race pads, fluid, and stainless lines. If you still have brake issues, then step up to a BBK.

If you don't have a lot of experience with suspension setup or adjustment, you may be happiest with a non-adjustable setup such as the Nismo S Tune, combined with some adjustable sway bars. It will give you a lot of performance for the buck, and it will be more comfortable on the street than most of the coilover kits.

Also, our StopTech 4 piston, 332mm kit is $1995. It's what I run on my personal car, and will probably be more than you'd ever need. Here's the description from our website:

StopTech front wheel Big Brake Upgrade for the 2004 Nissan 350Z. The kit includes ST-40 4-piston front calipers painted red, black, or silver, 7075-T6 billet aluminum caliper mounting brackets, 332x32mm slotted, floating, front AeroRotors, 7075-T6 billet aluminum AeroHats with directional standoffs, StopTech SS (DOT compliant) front brake lines, and Axxis Ultimate front brake pads. Requires 17 inch or larger wheels, however not all 17 inch wheels will fit. Please check the wheel fitment chart for your car. Options: Drilled rotors - $100 per pair; Yellow or blue paint - $200 per pair of calipers and 30 day lead time. This kit fits under the stock wheels.

$1995.00 - Item No. 83-646-4600

J Ritt, how well does the 14inch front kit work with the factory brembo rears? Would I need to upgrade to 2-piece rotors in the rear if I went with the 14 inch front?
