guys, my car has the eibachs and stock struts but now it needs to new struts, been about 25,000 miles.

i've searched and read so many good things on both shocks. What i want are some opinions now that people have driven them for a while.

which one is better? if so, then why?

i've never adjusted anything before in my lifetime, do they come preset to your liking or do they come standard and from there you click them to your liking?

educate me.

oh and finally where did you buy them and whom do you recommend to buy from?

i did read that and it gave me some education but i wanted some more info.

i've never bought any struts that are adjustable and that is my biggest concern.

I want the installers to install them at the perfect setting that i want.

i want something that is between the stock feeling and firm. i want something better then stock but not to firm.

the question is how do you set them that way. do they come at a certain setting right out of the box?

is it easy to set it the way i want.

and the most important is to the koni users right now, can you detail me as to what methods to get the perfect setting?


i know i'm a freak of questions i just want it done right the first time.

I have the Tokicos and at 4 turns from firm they are nice and soft providing a great ride but you give up some performance resulting in some lean when turning. I now have them at 2 turns from firm up front and 3 on rear and the ride is still good but you feel the bumps mainly up front so I would say 3 turns from firm all around should be a good ride like you are looking for.

 

you think it is some what simliar to stock struts and my eibachs? or better?

sounds good to me, someone else told me to do 2 turns for all four.

I have had Eibachs for almost 2 years and just put in the Tokico's definetly much better.

 

thats the set up im planning within the next couple of months are the tokico dspec's with the eibach springs..fingers crossed xx...

 

Sang I have the Tokicos for about a 1K miles, much better than stock. Don't know about the Konis, the Tokicos were much much cheaper.

 

The Konis are going to be stiffer than stock and greatly improved handling. The fronts are a breeze to adjust and the rears only require a jack to lift the rear up a bit, you do not have to remove the wheels. I have the rears set just over the half way mark and the fronts at about half way. You want the rears to be fairly stiff or the bounce is more noticable. The ride is very tight, yet comfortable. Bad roads are not a lot of fun at the current setting I am using. I went with the Konis for the ease of adjustment and I am glad as I have tried many different settings already at it is simple to do.

its still hard, i love teh eibachs, i love the koni's from reputation, but i've heard so many great things about he tokico's and how they are a couple hundred dollars cheaper.

what i'm guessing now is to buy these tokico's now and have them set all corners at 2 away from the firmest.

now if that is correct, where should i buy these struts, my garage is going to install them for me for 100 bucks so i want to save even more with the parts.

I got them from a group buy at Stillen, other people bought them from a previous group buy for even less, Stillen had them for less than the ebay vendors or any other that I could find.

 

I have been intrested in the same thing....and from what I have read the Koni's are the way to go if cost is a major concern.

I have the tokico with RS-R sprinsg and im very happy. Right now i have them set to 4 turns from full hard. I had them at 3 turns from full hard and for me at the time it was to stiff. 4 turns from full hard is to soft. So i might do 3 and a half turns from f ull hard. think that will be best. These are awesome shocks and would definatly recommend them...... Better than koni? donno... From what i hear if u are going to seriously track your car than koni might have more potential. But at same time if u are going to track your car shouldnt u be looking more at coilovers ? Tokico seem to work great and i dont think u will be dissapointed at all

 

I have the Tein S.Tech springs, and just ordered the Tokico shocks. I would like a more softer rides than stock, but without too much lean.. Guess 3.5 turns is good adjustment? Maybe I'll need to play with it when I have it installed.

Is it hard to adjust the shocks?
