Has anyone tried installing rear springs only?
I was wondering the same thing...
Front/rear don't have the same spring rate
I ordered the Hotchkis springs, and i'm planning to install the rear only(garage access+to compensate the lack of spare tire+look)

Just did the rear spring mount mod. Since the mounts were lil worn. Managed to lower only 15mm (.6"). Still feel the rear could go another 1" to be flush to be in level with the fender -wheel top.

Dont track the car just daily. Dont want to spend on coilovers. Seriously considering using the H&R lowering springs in the rear only. Which can give me the desired 1" drop.
BTW The car is a 2007 model.

Have a look at the pic again. The rear currently sits about an inch higher that the front. The shadow in the wheel well makes the difference seem less than it actually is.
I just want the rear to be level with the fornt & not lower.

Despite the stock front spring rate being different from the rear, I would imagine swapping the rear out and not the front (or vice virsa) would alter the front:rear spring rate ratio to a number that the car rather not be at. This is just an assumption though as I've never considered changing the front or rear to aftermarket while leaving the other one stock.
I wouldn't advise doing just the rears. I have been planning on doing just rears but I have a rather unique set of requirements I need to meet.
Putting hotchkis in the rear (which are some of the softest rear springs out there, if not the softest) will make the car bounce. This is something I want/need for my car, but I'm looking to move the car back on it's haunches as much as possible (for my big turbo setup). On a street car, that isn't a good thing. I am broke, and need to hook up close to 1000hp, and I need max clearance at the front because my turbo hangs low. Not exactly a normal situation. Again I wouldn't recommend it. And I imagine that you'll get premature wear probably on the dampers or elsewhere. Spring mount mod, full set of springs, coils, or get over it. You may be able to find a spring mount that's newer and or cut shorter that would satisfy your urges. Maybe look for a set of springs that's close to oem spring ratio. Even then you may see premature wear/failure.
