bbk upgrade using stock calipers..
a few months back, i remember seeing a company offering a kit that utilizes the stock calipers but bigger brake pads and rotors and brake lines to upgrade the brake system into somewhat of a BBK kit.. does anybody remember seeing this? i believe the name of the company was avalon racing, or something like that..
Company is called RacingBrake. They were running some specials not too long ago. https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ht=racingbrake
We were trying to be helpfull with their development, since they are only 45 min away from our shop, however they would not listen to us and basically created a product that is nearly impossible to sell to the 350Z and G35 community. People want upgraded rotors and calipers, not relocating a stock caliper.
I've run them on the front of my car for a few months now.
Overall they're very effective. Since I already invested in pads and stainless lines, I didn't want to loose that while trying to get better heat sink/cooling capabilities. Their rotor with 'fingers' reaching to the aluminum hat instead of solid iron is a really neat way to gain additional cooling and reduce weight.
The only thing I changed from the package were the pads (Ferodo DS2500) and painted the caliper bracket a matching silver instead of the red it was supplied with. They're very easy to mount and fit was perfect.
Not the bling of a whole new brake system (rotors look d@mn nice though) but honestly I prefer more bite than bark. Another advantage is that they used OEM capliers - so it's inexpensive to replace the calipers if you track a lot and destroy a set. I also run 16" steelies over the winter so it's *much* easier to just remove the rotor and bracket and put the OEM setup back on without having to disconnect the lines and bleed etc...
The system works because the rotors and fluid (ATE Super Blue) held up well to 30 minute sessions of hard lapping, the Ferodod DS2500 pads didn't however.
Good bang for the buck IMO.

Needless to say I got to the factory, was given a tour, and then Ken and Warren tried to SELL me the brakes(fronts only) for a SPECIAL price of $800. $800 for a bigger rotor and a bracket on the fronts only, no thank you..At this time I advised Ken that the product was not what people really wanted and the pricing was a bit high for a rotor upgrade, which basically what it is..Ken since left the company leaving several loos ends with our company, I will leave it at that..The bottom line is I never applied for a sponsorship, I supplied Ken with parts for development and our input, which was supposed to be in exchange for prototyping this kit on one of our cars, which in the end TPM tried to sell us..Please do not make any further attempts to make me look like Im some 18 year old kit trying for "sponsorship" of your relocated caliper kit, I will embarrass you with facts if you chose to do so...Bottom line is you have a good product, bad price..You should have listened to the people who know best, the consumers..
PS how many of these kits have you sold??
