How to fix glazed rotors?!?
Sup everybody,
Tried the search but found no relevant posts.
I recently took my 2004 Coupe in for an oil change at around 41,000 miles. I mentioned to my service adviser that the rear brakes make a squeaking sound once I apply the brakes and almost come to a complete stop. The squeaking does go away after it gets warmed up. They checked the pads and they were in good condition, front was 8 mm and rear was 5-6 I believe (the rears are still the OEMs). The adviser went on to say that the rotors are glazed. He recommended the equivalent of bedding in the pads. Question is, has anyone ever experienced this before, and how exactly should I do this? Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert, but if your rotors are smooth and don't require turning (which would solve the problem, but thin your rotors), I'd use aluminum oxide sand paper and break the glazing. I'd rub it in a concentric path around the rotors.
My $.02

Exactly right. Then do a bed in procedure. (Ten fairly rapid stops from 60mph down to 5mph)
