Default I finally got my Hotchkis question inside Help!!!!!!!!

Hi guys to day i got my hotchkis sways im very thrilled but im stock on something.

First question is what set-up do i do. I dont autoX, the only thing i do is do straight highway pulls or 1/4 what stiffness level do i use. Do i go hard to hard, medium to medium, or soft to soft. I am going to build the car for more power i have a TT now i was guessing that hard to hard would be best but im noy suspension expert. Let me know

Second question the hotchkis dont have the little clamp to prevent them from moving side to side they have complete play were can i get my self some clamps to put them. Can it be any type of clamps or s pecific type.

I will be installing tommorow so please let me know ASAP.

Also is this a DIY job or is it a little tricky or the average car owner.

Thanks in advance.

The default is set to Medium for front & rears. I would run with that until you actually get your engine built so you can adjust accordingly at that time depending on how your car reacts.

I'm too lazy to look at the moment but if you do a search, there is a thread that explains where to get these clamps. For normal driving conditions, however, I don't think these are necessary since I've been running mine for more than a year without them with no problems.

The setting all depends what tire width combo you have front a rear. When I had my factory tires I had it on med/med and this gave the car a good nuetral feel. Now I have 245/45/18 all around and I was using med/soft, but I have just switched to hard/med. I have not gotten to try out the new combo, but I am sure it is fine.

For the collar stays go to this thread:

I have these collars and they work awesome!

Do not start off with hard/hard unless you have very specfic testing under your belt that paints a very vivid picture that that is what you require. And also, keep in mind that while anyone can recommend a setting for you, sway bars are adjustable for you. Meaning, you are the one that needs to be the judge of where to set them in the end. Use them to fine tune the car's at the limit behavior to suit you, your car's setup and your given talent level. If that mean's you start with med/med and never change it, that's great. Just know that the best setting really is in your hands.

I would suggest them. When I installed my collars the sway bar had shifted almost all the way to one side. I had to disconect it and recenter it before I installed the collars. That is evidence enough that the collars will do good.

If it is just for going straight or 1/4 mile runs why did you get sway bars?

a common practice for drag racers is to unhook or take out the front sway bar...this allows for better weight transfer to the rear of the car, which allows for more traction at the rear wheels.

+1 on the collars. I have Stillen 5 position sways w/ collars welded-in, and Prothane bushings all around and like the setup very much. The add-on collars seem to accomplish the same as the welded-in stops; less shift/slide on the sway bar. Do a search in this forum on the collars. I remember most members who installed them responded positively.
As to settings, I started out med/med, and felt a difference immediately. Then I added GT-Spec frame braces, Tanabe Pro suspension, WIDE wheels and rubber. After the installs, I went to hard all around.
My ZR feels like it's "on the rails". I guess the answer is there are soooo many good suspension mods out there, all of which interact depending on your level of suspension tuning. Depends on what you want to accomplish.

p.s. -- I dropped 1.25 on the springs, the shocks are set medium-hard. So my ride (for a daily driver) is prolly much harsher than most drivers would like.
I like it. Also, I can no longer drive up on the ramps for an alignment; had to find a shop w/ a pit. A real PIA and more expensive.
