Anyone else having problems with rotors?
My Z is a 2004, with only 23,200 miles. They are telling me the rotors need to be replaced! Isn't this a little soon for that problem? I can understand needing new brake pads, and maybe even turning the rotors, but replacement?! How could they get that bad after only 23,200 miles?

Sorry, it's my first time to this (or any) forum, I just asked my question, didn't think of doing a search. Anyway, I don't think of myself as a "spirited driver". This is my first "high performance" car. Guess that's what you get when you go for high looks and high performance, HIGH maintenance as well. I still might get a second opinion though...

That's what I just said. Why did you quote me and say Misinformation LOL!

my rotors have a lip on both sides. i also get some clunking noise and brake pedal feedback. I dont know if my rotor is warped or if my pads are messed up. anyone have a clue?
also at slower speeds, the clunk happens less, so there must be a spot on the rotor or somethin. def sounds like its coming from the fronts.
should i just replace them>?

Update - got a second opinion from a local shop that specializes in Japanese cars and he said the rotors do not need to be replaced yet, although next time they would. He replaced the pads and turned the rotors. $150 as compared to $380. I guess only time will tell - we will see how long they last. But no more scraping noise or squeaking. Maybe some shops judge by different thickness standards??? I'm certainly no expert, like I said, this is my first "high performance" car. I'm just glad to have the Z back!!!

What model Z do you have ? Is it automatic ? These are harder on brakes because you have to slow down, stop and STAY on the brakes each time. It makes uneven deposits on your discs and brake shudder develops.
I have 25K miles on my Z and my rotors are pretty much dead. (not so) micro fissures all over. But I track my car, so I expected that.
