Ok guys sorry first of all if this is a repeat but i am a true noob at this. I have some questions. I would like to lower my car cause when i get my wheels it will most likely look like a monster truck after i put them on. So i wanted to ask how i go about lowering my car and what how i determine what to buy, how many inches or what do i do to determine how low to make it how much this stuff costs for installation and purchasing. Also i'm trying to go not extreme here just lowering.
Thanks guys i know i'm a noob but i would highly appriciate some input

are you just lowering for looks? If so, find the range you want lowered then buy the cheapest. When you start lowering about 1" or more, it'll affect your aligment and then you'll need to buy more parts (camber adjustment arms) to allow you to correct the alingment back to factory specs.
I went with the Hotckis TVS 1 kit (springs and sways), it was about a 1/2" lower...I drive the car daily and didn't want anything too extreme, but still wanted improvment for the track.
figure out what's important to you: looks, price, performance, brand name, ...

for me just price and looks are important. I'm not gonna go racing or anything like that. It'll be a daily driver so just a simple setup. What's the way to go and how much will it cost.

search this site for pics of Zs with the wheels you want or at least the same size you are planning on getting and then pm them asking how they lowered it! You don't need a sway if you don't care about performance enhancement! If you really want some flexibility get some coilovers, they are more expensive, but you can adjust the height if you are car savvy! I'm debating on what route to go myself! but if you simply going for looks, check out other members Z and just pm them. Springs shouldn't cost more then 100 dollars to install!!!!

Thanks so much for all the info. What about durability. I've head that if you just replace the springs then your struts will go out or other things will happen. What are the cons of doing such a job.

I have hotchkis springs with stock shocks/struts. Since hotchkis doesn't drop too much and also keeps the spring constants about the same as stock, it should hopefully be pretty safe.
I am prepared to buy coilovers or koni yellows if **** hits the fan. But I'm hoping that won't happen for at least 30-50k miles...
