06 upper rear spring seat, free lowering mod
Oh finally I can see the pics. If this lowers the rear a solid 1/2", I'm gonna do it. I want and need 1/2" on the nose.
Looks like I'm gonna be crawling under my car this weekend.
Think I will pick up two of these at the dealer and chop those up and save the others in case something comes up down the road, so I can just swap 'em back out quick like, if need be..

So how much total drop do you have on the rear of your car with this mod and your Nismo springs, VS stock?
My Hotchkis springs already lowered the back about 3/4" and with this mod, it would make for a total drop of about 1.25" on stock shocks.
Is dropping it 1.25" on the stock shocks a bad idea?
Think I heard that the shocks will wear out faster but other than that, are there any horrible problems with going 1.25" on stock shocks?
I thought if the car was lowered more than 1" from the factory, that the factory alignment specs may or may not be able to be dialed back in but earlier in this thread they say it's more like anything over 1.5" can't be corrected for?
This will be cool if it's ok to do on my Hotckis springs

Your shocks will wear out much quicker and you'll just have to buy aftermarket ones eventually.

What size shocks would I need to use? Guess maybe I would need adjustable shocks? I wouldn't mind having the correct length shocks put in at the same time as installing the shorter bushing and get the alignment done all at the same time.
I just need to know what shocks I need for the rear.

Brian, give Steve@Corner3 a call. He did this mod for me back in the day, I thought you already would've known since you get a ton of stuff done there.
Or you could do it yourself, takes no more than 5 mins per side

thanks for the thread
I finally shaved about 1/2" of the rear spring mount to level my Z. I also installed Espelir Active GT springs & Koni adjustable struts. Here are pictures of my Z at the auto-x this weekend. I really liked the way this mod leveled my Z. I still have '06 stock tires & rims.

cool thread. after getting the nismo shocks and springs, my handling is great, but aesthetically i feel like i want my car to ride a little lower. i'll probably do this mod when i get a chance, tho i don't know if i'll shave all of it off (maybe do like .25" or so).
