The springs have to reseat in the springmounts and reach full compression, the shocks do not need to settle, they don't have the capability to constantly apply an upward force, they simply dampen compression and extension of the suspension

i ordered new shocks, so i decided to experiment. i cut the top rubber cover off the rear shocks. and lowered the car back to the ground and i found it was resting on this foam and rubbery looking thing,06 upper rear spring seat, free lowering mod-car4.jpg
so i jacked the car back up and cut them off of both side. and when i lowered her back down it was like magic.
06 upper rear spring seat, free lowering mod-car1.jpg it went down another 1/4 inch,so i got now in total about a .5-.6 drop. and now i have more shock absorbment now, before it was kinda stiff from resting on that rubbery thing.

You cut off the bumpstops???

If you hit a big enough bump there is nothing to stop your rear shock from bottoming out! If you were resting on the rear bumpstop, then you are either too low, or need shorter shocks.

A better option would of been to trim the stopper so there will still be something there to keep the shock from detroying itself.

yea i ordered some new shorter tokico shocks, theres still one peice of rubber on the shock that i left, it shouldnt let it bottom out.im not driving the car to much right now til i get it all fixed up right. i was just curious about the shock not letting the car come down all the way, after i cut that upper spring seat.
