Question For those that have BBKs...

...what did you do with your spare tire? I could've sworn there was a thread that asked this before but I couldn't find it. If you find it, please provide link so I can request the Mods to combine it. But yeah, I'm curious because I still have my spare sitting in my trunk but it essentially has no use since it won't fit over my BBKs anyway. So should I just take it out for weight reduction or do you think the extra weight in the rear actually helps keep the backend down. The problem I have now is that I'm a little nervous now if I ever get a flat. I know that I can easily get a bedded truck to tow me off but I would then have to remove my entire bumper since the tow hook is covered by my Vertex kit. I was even considering trying to find another spare that would be big enough to go over my BBKs or even a spacer. Thoughts?

i got rid of my spare.. but i heard depending on the aftermarket caliper size, you could use a spare from a Track edition Z..

Hmm? Not a bad idea but would that fit a 14" BBK? I might have to look into that.

Track spare is definitely something to look at. Tell us what you come up with.

Since I got my BBK, I took the spare out and bought an electric air compressor and plugs.... ghetto but I wouldn't have to get a tow for a flat..... (unless it's a blowout).

Well, I haven't gotten around to testing the track wheels yet but wondering if anyone else has looked into this? I'm still curious as to what you guys with BBKs would do if you get a flat.

Yeah, if there is no use for the spare & no option for one that fits over my BBKs...I might as fill that rear area with some audio . I prefer a spare though since I don't want to risk being stranded somewhere due to my Z being a daily driver. Just trying to see what my options are

Yeah...I know it helps keep the Z's big **** down but the problem is finding a 5th wheel (spare) that can accomodate my BBKs in case I get a flat. Know of any?

Is this the one you are refering to? I wound up going with 4 piston all the way around. Doesn't matter though, the spare will not fit and now resides in my attic.

Naw...it was someone else but this definitely helps as well. Guess I can say my spare is pretty useless at this point except for putting weight down onto my rear tires. So I'm assuming you're just SOL if you get a flat then . I'll probably have to look into one of those DIY tire plug kits w/ a portable air generator for emergencies.

i took the spare out long time ago. I bought the fix kit from Target and fix the flat tire issue myself.

Yeah...that's exactly what I'm probably going to end of just doing. Guess I now have extra space for some nice audio

there are alot of sellers on ebay who sell single 350Z 18" wheels that they fixed...

I had an extra touring wheel with a stock size front tire on it...

if you find a single track model wheel that would be ideal... since its lighter of course

If anyone needs a stock "track model" spare to try out, or buy. Mine is like new, pulled out the first day I got the car

I always carry around one of my spare full size wheels.

Also for the Vertex bumper you might look into the Central 20 front tow hook, it allows you to tow from the front tow hook without removing the bumper.
