Here at Universal Air Suspension we manufacture an air bags that slide over existing factory or aftermarket struts/coilovers to retain the cars handling.

I would like to open this thread up to any question/concerns anyone has about Air Suspension.

Default Glad you started a thread

I was curious how these systems work on our Z. I would expect a comfortable ride, but how about adjustment for "spirited" driving?

There is an inside chamber to keep the air pressure off of the shock.

Interesting...can you like "store" different ride-height settings? For example, "low" for normal driving, "raised" for getting up steep driveways, and "slammed" for parking/shows? Or do you just raise/lower it manually to any height?

And how is your system compared to the Roberuta Cup kit? http://www.topsecretjpn.com/roberuta.shtml

Depends on what suspension you already have on the vehicle. Of course the higher end adjustable coilovers will give you ultimate control.

As a general notice you will have a slight reduction in body roll. The bags have a dynamic progressive spring rate, As you compress the bags down the will progressively become stiffer and the faster you compress them down they will stiffer they will be come.

To make a long story short it will be nice over the small bumps and stiffen up when you hit a big one.

This is on an RX7, but it will show the handling and some of the testing that we have done for road handling. We have 2 racing teams over in Japan that are doing very extenstive testing to shorten lap time with bags instead of coils

RX7 Drifting Video on air.

Dakota digial makes an add-on unit that you can set 3 different heights into the unit. It uses height sensors to adjust the height to your setting. That add-on is 725.

They make a more simple unit that will raise the car on startup to your preset height using pressure sensors and that unit is 510.

Standard kits are manual control.

So you have to have a coil-over setup for this to work? What about install/warranty?

How much weight does a system like this add to a vehicle?

Please keep in mind that i am not trying to put down that product because I haven't personally tested the unit.

Same principal design by not sealing against the shock. From what i can see it looks like an air cylinder type design of our air bag. If it is the main key down fall is that the life will be shorter due to a moving seal inside, However its not your primary suspension so the use is not as much as our system is.

You probably will only have an up and down position, nothing in between. Also the travel is very short.

No adjustable spring rate.

Some advantages i see with their unit is that if you just need a couple of inches to lift the front up to clear a drive way it will work for what you need.

It all depends on what type of product you install and how its installed.

Most likey they removed the front shocks and used like a firestone style bag and it will make it very floaty and soft. Not your ideal performance machine.

Did they install a front/back or independent control system? That will drastically reduce your performance if it was only front/back. Air will transfer from one side to the other.
